August 10, 20223 yr Hello guys, I enjoy MSFS in VR with my Quest 2 but I somehow can't set up an external (or drone) camera to move around the aircraft (it seems I'm too dumb to set it up). In the cockpit camera I mapped some controller buttons to translate the view FWD / BAK / LEF / RIG and use my mouse for PITCH and YAW. Basicaly I set it up like a 1st person shooter to look around with my mouse and walk with my buttons. I can't seem to get this system to work on the EXT view and in VR I miss the DRONE camera option! Q1: Is there a way to set up something described above. Q2. Is there a way to actualy walk around in real life e.g. set up a EXT CAM position under a wing and actualy walk a bit in real life.... August 15, 20223 yr drone camera works just fine in VR you can walk around do whatever.. you can do it with outside view also (spot view) but you cannot turn around unless you do it physically and it is much slower then using drone view Here's me walking around i think this is using drone view if i recall, nvm what i say there LOL Edited August 15, 20223 yr by AndyCYXU Andy Home Cockpit B737
August 15, 20223 yr My humble suggestion is to buy yourself an xbox controller. They are pretty cheap. With it you can very easily and smoothly do walk arounds, etc. And since its joystick controlled, it has a very natural ease in and out of acceleration as you move. In fact, I've even mapped the cockpit camera eye controls to it, so when in the cockpit I can move around as far as the given aircraft's constraints let me. With the Fenix A320 for example, I can virtually get up from my seat and walk back into the cabin. With VR, this is soo cool! Good luck!
August 15, 20223 yr Like VFXSimmer said, ideally you want a Xbox controller. In VR you can easily switch between cockpit and drone camera with the INSERT key.
August 15, 20223 yr I would like to try this. Q: are you using bluetooth to connect the Xbox joystick to the PC? I have a Xbox series ‘S’. rgds, JB 9800x3d, ASUS TUF x870, 64GB G.Skill DDR5, MSI Ventus 4080, HP Reverb G2 VR, FlyVirtual.net, Private Pilot SEL rating, subLogic FlightSim 1983 & every release since
August 19, 20223 yr Author Thank you guys. The DRONE Camera option is missing in the VR camera menu. I managed to set up a button to switch to it and it worked. Turning makes me nausea and the speed is to high but I remember reading that SU10 will reduce the speed. I am actually using a usb cable, though I know newer PCs can usually make a Bluetooth connection with it (that reminds me, I the rig I’m using is brand new - I didn’t even think to set it up with Bluetooth after migrating from my old one 🙂 There are probably lots of ways to set it up, I use the “A” button on the controller to pop between cockpit and drone. I also have a trigger button combo to control the speed. At the slowest speed it’s a nice walking pace to do virtual walks arounds before takeoff and then strolls through the cabin once in the air.
