October 28, 20223 yr Hello! Regarding the Aerosoft Twin Otter, I'm having some issues with the autopilot. I previously owned the same aircraft for FSX / P3D, and it didn't have the same issues. The problem is it's difficult to engage climb or decent, and when I've already used the ALT hold mode, I can't deselect it. Also, the IAS mode doesn't work at all. The button does nothing. I know there is one autopilot panel straight in front, and one near the radio stacks, and they work together. But neither will work properly. Is there a way to get IAS to work as intended? Thank you. October 28, 20223 yr It's a Twin Otter after all, I highly doubt that it would have any sort of IAS hold so I believe it's inop in the sim. i7-13700KF, 32gb DDR4 3200, RTX 4080, Win 11, MSFS 2024

It does have IAS, and the versions for FSX / P3D did have a working IAS. And it's in the MSFS version as well. Just not doing anything. I know there is one autopilot panel straight in front, and one near the radio stacks, and they work together. But neither will work properly. The IAS mode isn't implemented. The Twin Otter Extended had a fairly faithful implementation of the Collins AP-106 but in the MSFS version the AP-106 panel is a sham, merely slaved to the KAP-140 in an approximate fashion. The KAP-140 is the default MSFS one, which is a partial implementation of the three-axis version. It doesn't have an IAS mode. To deselect the ALT hold you press ALT, which toggles between ALT hold and VS modes. The VS mode isn't fully implemented but works tolerably well. The behaviour of the KAP-140 in ALT and VS modes isn't completely intuitive, particularly the display. There's a manual here. I also recommend watching this video, which describes some of the operations and my efforts to make the AP work better. Wow, I didn't know they didn't bother to implement a proper autopilot for the MSFS version. That really sucks. I loved it so much I flew it from Norway, across the Atlantic, across Canada and to Victoria where the current Twin Otter 400 is built. 24 legs, real weather. Sometimes I was stranded for days in certain places. It was a great flight sim adventure. I was planning on taking this one from Alaska down to southern Chile. But now I don't know. They even have the autopilot code from the previous Extended version, but they were too lazy or trying to cut cost so they just used the bog standard word not allowed MSFS code. I guess that opens up the possibility of an "Extended" for MSFS later. More cash for Aerosoft I guess. I heard some rumors that they're working on a new soundset at least. Yeah, it's unfortunate that some developers sort of release stuff and really don't implement certain parts properly. Is there a way you can mod the plane or something so it will function better? Or are they like Carenado etc and don't allow mods? 7800+4090+64ram Just Flight RJ, 146 and F28, Piper Arrows ---A2A Aerostar and Comanche---Black Square Starship, Duke(s), TBM, Bonanza/BaronV2, KingAir---FSReborn FSR500---COWS Da42---FX P180, HJet & VJet---FlySimWare Chancellor and LearJet---FlightSimStudio EMB175 &P2006T---Fenix 320---PMDG DC6, 737(700+900), 777---C22J---Milviz Cessna 310 & Porter---SimWorksStudios Kodiak, PC12, Zenith & RV14---BigRadials Goose---IndiaFoxEcho MB3339+F35.
