On my way to the Baltic Sea

Featured Replies

If you allow me, I do it this time with a different mode of transportation, the Lusitania
After having left Hamburg, we sail the river Elbe down to the North Sea (which is a bit misleading, as we actually travel northbound).

The easiest way to get to the Baltic Sea is using the Kiel Canal, which connects both, the North Sea and the Baltic Sea since 1895. Here we are at the Brunsbüttel lock, the entry to the Kiel Canal.

In Kiel, on the other side of the Kiel Canal.

Passengers on that ship won’t be too happy with me, I’m afraid

Your classic Lusitania looks great, bernd, quite undaunted by one of those luxurious cruise-liners...🙂....Lovely pics...!!

[BTW, I now recall and think I'd stated once in one such post of yours about an acquaintance couple, from FL, who had rented a Canal Boat in Germany, and travelled/piloted on River Elbe, on their own...navigating through docks etc. Very interesting video, they had...Wish I could do that sometime in Germany...]

Thanks for your comment, P_7878. Yes, I remember you mention this boat trip. There are quite a few of those on YT and it is really interesting to watch some of them 😉
