I'm a little surprised that 3 times the amount of L3 cache (32 MB in standard 5800X vs. 96 MB in upgraded 5800X3D) doesn't make some noticeable improvement in your sim's performance in the more complex areas. Though a theoretical 0.5 Ghz loss of speed (4.7 vs. 4.2 GHz) on each core could negate any benefit, I suppose. Didn't say it would not just that for overall performance (for other applications that don't care about cache) the 5800x would certainly be faster due to the higher clockspeed. This is further compounded if you have a chip like mine that can't sustain full boost speeds under 100% load across all cores. I came from a 5600x and performance nearly doubled in some circumstances in msfs. Edited January 5, 20233 yr by JasonPC
