Orbx & P3Dv5.3

Featured Replies

Greetings all,

I ordered a new gaming desktop that arrived last week and installed P3Dv5.3. On my old machine I had been running v4.5 with all the Orbx Global and LC's.

I installed them via Orbx Central on the new desktop, but when I launch the sim, the Orbx products do not seem to be loaded - the ground textures appear to be stock P3Dv5.3...and therefore, ugly.

I've gone into Orbx Central and verified all the installations, but that seems not to make any difference. When I installed Global/LC, I installed them into the root folder of the sim as was recommended by the Orbx installer, in other words, did not do the library install except for one or two which generated a message they needed to go into a library.

Orbx worked perfectly in my P3Dv4.5 install.

Any suggestions of how to fix this?

Regards,

Scott

Orbx Central has placement/ordering options and sim sync options in its UI

Not that it should really come into play if you've installed Global Base into the Sim itself as it would have overwritten many files.

Under Settings | Help, there is... Sync Simulator, Open Log, Open Scenery Config File and the User Guide link is also there, the log might be helpful as it does contain the list of products and includes paths.

Plus under Simulator there are Libraries you've defined (there should be at least one for Orbx Object Flow and Libs) and the Orbx Global openLC insertion point, which is typically below Orbx Airports and Regions.

Or perhaps load up  the Lorby P3D Addon Organiser and see what it has listed, it's the only place where I manage both addons and Scenery.cfg items on the one place.

Try clicking "Sync simulator" in the Orbx Central settings and re-start P3D

HI,

Thanks for the replies! Unfortunately, re-synching did not make any difference.

If it was me, I'd open a support ticket with Orbx and/or post on their forums first.

Beyond that, I'd dig into Rogen's recommendations as that will allow you to see the details of your configs.

Other than that, I can say I haven't experienced any visibility issues with Orbx in v5.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. When I installed the Orbx sceneries, I had forgotten to disable Windows Defender Real-time Protection. After work today, I'm going to try disabling that and verifying all the files. If that doesn't work, I'll try their forum and/or maybe just do an uninstall/reinstall of the Orbx sceneries.

Scott

Hi all,

I just wanted to give an update: As I mentioned above, I disabled the Windows Defender Real-Time Protection and also the UAC. Verified all the installations, loaded P3Dv5.3 and checked out a couple of areas in North America. It looks like the Orbx sceneries are now displaying correctly in the sim. This is on a computer running Windows 11.

Hope this information might help someone experiencing a similar issue.

Regards,

Scott

It is not necessary to disconnect the Windows Defender, but to create file and folder exclusions. p3d.exe and the Prepar3D folder itself should be excluded.
Same thing everything to do with OrbX.
