Saitek controls not recognized

Featured Replies

After a recent update my Saitek Yoke and other controllers are not showing up in the program.  I cannot calibrate or adjust/change any of the axes or buttons.

After a recent update of what?

If you go to the Window's Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right click on one of your controllers,  select Game Control Settings > Properties > Test, does the controller work? In other words, does Windows see your controllers? If you have any other sims, do the controllers work in those sims?

Have you tried a different USB port(s) or USB hub?

Might also be worth just unplugging and then replugging in the controllers while the sim is running to see if a window pops up asking if you want to make a change or keep the default.

Thanks, I have tried that and still no luck.  Do you think that a program like SPAD Next could be of help?

No, I don't think SPAD is a fix for your problem at this point, the controllers should work without SPAD.Next.

You said the controllers didn't work after a recent update -- what kind of update (sim update to SU11, Windows update?), and did the controllers work before that update?

Did you try the Windows Control panel test I described above, and if so, what happened, does windows "see" the controllers, did they work in that test?

The controllers work fine in X-Plane 12 but since the Microsoft update approx. a month ago, no luck.

Does the keyboard and mouse work in MSFS -- for example, after loading a default plane can you operate switches or buttons on the panel and move the throttle of the plane with the mouse?

Do you have third party liveries and mods in your Community folder? If so, I suggest you rename the Community folder (to something like Community-BkUp) to back it up and then restart the sim to see if the controllers work.

The other thing you could try would be to go to CONTROLS OPTIONS, select one of your controllers, open the PRESET MANAGER, then try selecting RESET TO DEFAULTS then GO BACK and see if anything has improved with the controllers. You could also try selecting CLEAR ALL and then RESET TO DEFAULTS.

I guess a last resort would be to reinstall the sim.

Thanks a lot for all your suggestions, I am going to try each one, one at a time and see what happens.

Well, I give up. Cannot solve this problem, so off to XP12.

If you have a standard MSFS store install, the controller profiles are stored in a folder called wgs located at

C:\Users\your-name \AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\SystemAppData\wgs\          (or you could just search for the wgs file)

I think if you delete the wgs file ( or just rename it to back it up) the sim will recreate it the next time the sim starts. My limited understanding is the controller profiles are stored in the "cloud" by the sim, and so the sim may repopulate the new wgs file. Worth a shot I think.

And of course, you could always try reinstalling the sim.

I see you have had controller issues since at least September 21st............ And not just one controller....  And you have not reported back what tips you have tried and what the resulets were.  Not sure what to say.  What did you observe when carrying out suggestions of what to look at?

If possible you could try to borrow a controller and see if that works. But if your Saitek equipment works in X-plane, it doesn't seem they are defective. You never replied if you can operate controls in the cockpit with the mouse, such as moving the throttles. If not, then something is really wrong and it almost seems like the sim is stuck in a Pause mode for some reason.

Unfortunately, I'm out of ideas.  At this point since you said you are ready to give up and go back to X-Plane, it would seem you have nothing to lose by uninstalling and reinstalling MSFS.

Thanks again Ark.  Yes, the mouse does move the controls.
