December 11, 20223 yr In my early AF days, we had a T-37 ingest a snake at something like 12,000 ft flying in one of the training areas. The theory was that a large bird of prey was probably carrying it and dropped it, possibly in an area of convective weather where there might have been some strong updrafts that could keep it aloft. December 12, 20223 yr Almost all migratory birds like ducks, geese and cranes can fly well over 8000 feet. When I was driving the LIMRV at the DOT test track in Colorado we hit a barn owl when I was accelerating. We were well over 100MPH. It put a big dent in the nose of the vehicle and made a very loud bang or thud. It scared the word not allowed out of me. I didn't see it but the instrumentation technician who was sitting beside me said he saw it and it was a barn owl. We never did find it. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.
