I keep improving setup for HDR but still am bothered by overly bright components like glass cockpit elements. If I turn the 738's control knob to adjust brightness of the PFD all the way up it's a total whiteout and beyond, whereas w/ HDR + Details it's just way too bright, but not whited out. This really means one needs to adjust lighting precisely in plane per lighting set as the range is so much greater, it's so great it's beyond real. How does one dial this back globally with HDR, so that things like this are not too bright? Getting this set up is definitely something that needs attention to detail! Yes, the HDR600 was a nice jump in brightness/contrast so my appetite was tickled for higher 🙂 Current monitor has a peak brightness of 1000 nits, but only with 20% of the scene fully bright. That peak brightness does drop as the amount of scene at full brightness increases. However, MSFS is normally only half screen outside, so I get mostly 1000 nits. That added brightness and contrast leads to quite spectacular scene's. Just a thought - could you change the eye adaption setting in usercfg.opt, just to see if it makes a difference? I still don't understand why you would need to use the detail filter when using HDR? If the HDR calibration tool has been used correctly, 1000 nits in MSFS will be converted to 600 nits (or whatever figure for max brightness the HDR calibration tool showed) for display on your monitor. Any extra brightness will therefore go above what your monitor is capable of. This doesn't explain your glass cockpit elements I guess. I read your settings were using TAA, so decided to copy your settings - super quality scenery for sure, but still these massive pauses. I stopped running AutoFPS and all the pauses and stutters disappeared (settings in AutoFPS were reasonable without massive ranges in settings). I just flew over Los Angeles with TLOD at 400 and OLOD at 200, 60fps completely smooth without any pauses or stutters whatsoever (Rivatuner set at 60fps and FG on) CPU Ryzen 7800X 3D RAM 32GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR5 6000MHz GPU GEFORCE RTX 4090 Monitor AOC AGON AG352UCG UltraWide G-Sync @ 3440x1440 Internal Storage 1TB NVMe PCIe SSD External Storage Three 4Tb HDs

You gotta love a native rate of 30 with this type of hardware! Since I don't use FG I took a hard look at TLOD and concluded for my type of sim use it absolutely hardly comes into play. So I never go over 160 and often start at 60. Not long ago I had a great place to try to note the difference between TLOD of 100 and 400 and I was heartened to see almost no difference in this particular setting, so this helps me with frame rate. Absolutely, 60fps is more than good enough so leaving overhead for other stuff. 4 minutes ago, Noel said: Since I don't use FG I took a hard look at TLOD and concluded for my type of sim use it absolutely hardly comes into play. That’s interesting. I’ve had AutoFPS on for months now, combined with a FPS-lock of 60-65. Every now and then stutters and pauses which I’ve attributed to complex scenery + AI traffic. I’ll try a few flights without it, to rule out if the TLOD changes are causing stutters. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
