Unable to launch MSFS

Featured Replies

I have been operating MSFS without problems for around 3 months, but on the last attempt to launch it, having double clicked the desktop icon, nothing happened and an App appeared asking if I wanted to make changes to my device.

The App was titled "Microsoft Store Package Dependency Installer. Selecting yes brought up a page from Microsoft Corporation Gaming Services. There was no indication about what to do, so I rang MS Tech Support. They suggested that I carry out a Windows 10 update, but this did not resolve things.

On checking the MSFS forum, it seems that this problem has occured several times, but no solution is provided, except to uninstall MSFS and then reinstall.

I wonder if anyone on this forum has had the problem, and if the uninstall route is the only answer. Thanks, roytc.

1) yes,

2) no 😊

I normally start MSFS from an icon in the task bar. sometimes MSFS would not start from clicking that icon.  But I could normally solve the problem you describe easily by starting MSFS from within the MS store instead, or Xbox App (on the pc, available free from the MS store). next time MSFS would even start again from the taskbar icon. no need to re-install anything.

If you haven't be sure to try signing out and resign back into both the Xbox App and MS Store apps, reboot and try relauching.

Yup, as Noel has said, sign out of both Xbox app and the MS app, then reboot and sign back in. That has always worked for me, and others too.

It's that little detail, and the fact veteran simmers sometimes can't find the Library in the Store so they can then find updates for their MS software that is the primary reason Steam got the reputation for being the better solution.  I've had not one issue w/ Store installs including 2 complete reinstalls and one after a new Windows install.  Very complicated 😂

I'm poking fun at this but I understand those two issues were not as intuitive as they should have been.

Sure Noel, I wish I had made my purchase through Steam, but hey, it is what it is.
