January 17, 20233 yr I've been flying this sim all over the world. But I've seen these recent months a degradation of the maps in forgotten (not by me) areas in Afghanistan, Peru, China today. The detailed maps have been replaced by swathes of the coarse off-line ground. EDIT made a post over there with a pic Degradation of the terrain texturing - Bug Reports & Wishlist / Scenery and Airports - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums Edited January 17, 20233 yr by Dominique_K Dominique Simming since 1981 - [email protected] GHz with 16 GB of RAM and a 1080 with 8 GB VRAM running a 27" @ 2560*1440 - Windows 10 - Warthog HOTAS - MFG pedals - MSFS Standard version with Steam
January 17, 20233 yr Agreed, I've also noticed a similar degradation. I would add the Philippines and the Sahara desert in Southern Algeria to your list of forgotten regions. Personally, I've never been particularly impressed with China from Day 1 - which is a shame. There is so much to see flying high above this huge chunk of land. From arid deserts to the foot of the Himalayas, from lush tropical forests to Siberian taigas and everything else in between. Cheers, 2Low2Slow Edited January 17, 20233 yr by TooLowTooSlow

Cheers, 2Low2Slow I am a bit annoyed because these are places where I flew in the past and which were rather good, like from Peshawar to Kabul though the Khyber pass. In Chine I have flown a bit from Xi'an to the West border and in the South and the terrain was nice. January 17, 20233 yr That‘s a shame indeed. I wonder how this could happen. It looks like there’s no aerial imagery in these places and the sim uses offline textures instead. Maybe they‘ve updated these regions without noticing that the imagery is faulty. Thanks for reporting this in the other forum. Unfortunately something seems to be wrong with your bug report and we cannot vote for it. I edited it to put it in form (and added another pic) and it is still closed. January 18, 20233 yr Indeed there is a problem with terrain in some part of the globe. Below is an example from Pakistan. This capture is from somewhere random in Pakistan. https://ibb.co/2Wf1V3b This capture is from MSFS in same location.https://ibb.co/PCfKycN I don't know where is exactly the problem because in bing the imagery is really good so the A.I. it shouldn't change the texture with generic one. It seems that there is a difference between bing data and sim data or is a difference between moment when the both are updated and the new imagery is bad. P.S. I couldn't insert images from URL, it didn't work and I don't know why, so I just coppied the links here. Sorry for that.
January 19, 20233 yr Author I have reposted a 3rd (and last) time ! I see it as an important issue as MSFS is exemplary of a new realism in the scenery department. Feel free to contribute to this thread https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/the-offline-texture-replaces-the-satellite-imagery-in-some-large-swathes-of-land/570756?u=dominiquekl if you share my concern Dominique Simming since 1981 - [email protected] GHz with 16 GB of RAM and a 1080 with 8 GB VRAM running a 27" @ 2560*1440 - Windows 10 - Warthog HOTAS - MFG pedals - MSFS Standard version with Steam
January 19, 20233 yr I assume this will be fixed in due course. Expecting perfect terrain for the entire globe may be a little unrealistic at this stage. Patience ....

Patience .... What stage ? These areas were all right sometimes ago. I know I flew them. It seems that there is now substantial land areas where the sim is not covered by sat imagery anymore.
