FSLTL at KMDW … few parked planes

Featured Replies

I have been testing FSLTL the last 2 days and have been impressed. At KMDW, however, only 4 planes spawn.  I have the fixed planes maxed, and the other IFR settings very high as well, yet only 4 planes at the entire airport.  I try again at KORD with the same settings and it is virtually full.  I return to Midway airport and launch my flight to KDTW.  Upon landing at Detroit it is also fairly full with my settings.

Has anyone else experienced the issue with KMDW.  I do notice in the DOS prompt that comes up after injection, some notices that it is removing traffic from Midway.  I don’t understand why though.  Finally, my MSFS traffic settings are correctly set for FSLTL, so it is not that.

Are the airports you are using custom airports or default? Parking slots may be incorrect in size at Midway for what FSLTL is trying to load, although I wouldn't have thought that to be the case. I mean we are talking Chicago!! But just to verify they are all custom or all default?

I also wonder if you are coming up against what others have found with GSX installed. The number of sim objects are being exceeded and at an airport like Midway ground equipment objects would be huge. So AI get's dropped. Do you have GSX?

No. No, Mav, this is not a good idea.

Sorry Goose, but it's time to buzz the tower!

All of my airports are standard from MSFS. I do not own GSX.  My install is almost as vanilla as it gets.  In the sim, I have ground equipment extremely low, like around 4%.

I tested it for you just now.

FSTL: 5 Aircraft parked

AIG: 7 Aircraft parked

PSXT: 7 Aircraft parked

I assume it's the default radii of the parking spots. They are too small and close together. One can see this especially when using PSXT. The aircraft park where they do in real life, but as soon as they switch off their transponder and become static MSFS removes them. Which doesn't happen if the parking spot is large enough.

Thank you, I am at least not going crazy.  I will launch more flights out of O’Hare going forward unless there is a custom version of Midway that corrects the parking spots.

The default parking at MDW is way too small for 737's, you'd be lucky to have AI PC12's park in those Gates.

As for PSXT only having 7 aircraft, then you haven't let it learn the airport long enough as it doesn't use the sizes like the other AI addons do.
It's easy enough to edit the spots in ADE to the correct size, but then you are still stuck with the extra radius that Asobo added in for whatever reason which will result in traffic not using a good portion of the parking due to an overlap issue. It's not a wing overlap issue or anything, just a parking size overlap issue. I was hoping Asobo was going to address this issue by now, but not a peep from them.

Back to the question then, are there any Add-on Airports that correct the parking spot issue at KMDW?

I could whip one up in no time, you'll get more traffic for sure, but they won't use all of the gates due to the invisible useless overlap.

I know sure about correct parking but these combo shows more than 7 aircrafts:

- Drzewiecki Design – KMDW Chicago Midway International Airport

- JustFlight - FS Traffic

Yes, planes everywhere. Appropriate Southwest planes of course. Well done, thank you!

Thanks, it is no where near perfect but it will help populate the airport. I've just added some airline codes based on the past couple of weeks. Same download as above.

Had a great flight out of KMDW today with plenty of traffic at the airport thanks to the quick mod by dave_yvr.  I actually had a good amount of departing traffic to wait behind, and in checking flightradar24, this was the real (almost) situation. Just love FSLTL so far.  Even at default settings, you pretty much get the real deal.
