I'd say you can't compare performance of the older sims with MSFS at relase without AI if you don't use hardware from 2 years ago or older.

 

If you put P3D with full AI against MSFS with full AI on a system that was state of the art when P3D was on its height, shortly before the release of MSFS I doubt MSFS will perform better.

There was a thread quite a while ago on the official forum, where one of the Asobo guys said that graphics and rendering settings will have a significant impact on performance if you're GPU limited (or generally using a lower spec GPU), and Traffic will always have the most significant effect on performance if you're CPU limited. Seems to make sense.
