Vpilot disconnects from the server. Sim same problem

Featured Replies

Hi, guys! Maybe you can help me to find any clue for problem solution. I fly in VATSIM. A while ago started facing situations when vpilot disconnects from the server. Right after that I get warning in the sim that there is problem with internet connection. Then the vpilot may connect by itself  and sim gives warning that connection is successful. I don't know how these two things work out together, but it bothers me... I did not have such issue before. It may happen several times during a flight every 2 minutes.

I don't think that there is problem with my internet. Because when I not in the sim I always use internet and experience no problems at all. Maybe any other software affects that? But don't know where to look for the problem solution....

Your motherboard is equipped with the bugged intel I-225v LAN chip.  I don't think there was ever a fix for its now widely-known dropout problems.  Applications that don't require real-time streaming data aren't usually affected, but streaming apps don't like those dropouts.

You might try an inexpensive ethernet-to-USB adapter and see if that fixes the problem.  The onboard wifi might also be an alternative.  I had to go with a USB adapter on my new $675 Z790 motherboard because of its onboard Intel I-226V network device, which apparently is just as much a disaster as its predecessor.

Thank you, Bob!

I will try. I just recently upgraded to Z790 motherboard.

He makes no mention of his motherboard yet you surmise that's the problem?

Well, any surmising was based on what the OP has in his signature...an ASUS TUF Gaming Z590, which I think you'll find does incorporate the aforementioned i-225V LAN adapter.

updated the specs in the signature. Today did 1h flight on VATSIM. Just a short disconnect from the voice server happened but quickly restored. The sim had no issues.

Exactly same problem. However I had it on older system with different motherboard and now I have new PC with new motherboard and I still have this issue.

Can you please provide some details how it works with desktop computers? Most of the videos I found were for connecting internet to laptops without ethernet port.
Do I have to connect my ethernet cable to the adapter and the other end of the adapter which is USB just connect to the back of my PC? I am a bit confused. Does it have to be USB 2 or 3 in the adapter?
Thanks.

It was pretty much plug-n-play.  The USB-to-ethernet adapter is a dongle that plugs into a computer USB port on one end and has a female ethernet jack on the other.  I used one I got from Best Buy for $20--it incorporates a RealTek 1Gbps LAN IC and the drivers were already present in Windows 11.  This particular one has a USB-C connector, but there are others with the flat USB-A connector as well.  All the USB ports on my new mobo are USB3, but it should work on a USB2 port just the same.

I purchased the same adapter. It doesn’t work. My PC doesn’t see it. My motherboard has USB C port in the back. Is the a way to set this up?
UPD. I have connected to a different USB C port and internet is working now. However it didn’t fix vPilot connection issues.

It's possible the USB-C port you first tried is disabled in the BIOS, or it might be wired to a third-party device mounted on the mobo that requires installation of a device-specific USB port driver.

I have spoken to my colleagues at work, who also fly online, and all of them reported the same vPilot connection issues. Most of us have different PCs with different motherboards etc. I am sure this is not just a our hardware issue.

Thanks for help.

yes, that would be nice to find a solution....

vPilot will disconnect you if it cannot find the default plane listed in its UI for when no other model exists.

Interesting. I read that it would generate livery or model error message. Why would it disconnect? I never noticed this message flying in P3D in the past. Maybe something has changed since then.
