PMDG 737 LNAV too aggressive last patch ?

Recommended Posts

Anyone else noticing LNAV getting degraded ? it simply cant complete turns with one smooth turn at a gentle turn rate. Currently even at cruise its making even a relatively small turn in 2 turns of 30 degrees bank. It starting turn nicely and all of a sudden it banking to 30 degrees to catch the route.

For some reason LNAV was always the weak spot of PMDG. Other than that its a great plane !

I can honestly say I haven't noticed this behaviour. Mine seems to be as smooth as ever. I will keep a close eye on my next flight.

There is no weakness recognizable for me. Works fine in every flight i have done so far in the 737-700.

So you confirm the plane never take sharp turns of over 15 degrees bank angle during cruise ?

not sure if 15 or 20 degrees, but bank is always limited to max 20 on my autopilot panel.

Just FYI, LNAV is no affected by the HDG bank angle limit selector.

As Roi mentioned, that only affects HDG mode. LNAV manages its own bank angles.

Interesting! I thought it affects all autopilot operations.

As I understand it, the reason pilots turn down the bank angle limit to 10 on the MCP when above 30,000 is in case ATC gives them vectors when above that altitude and they have to select HDG mode for manual inputs.

I also don't like PMDG 737's LNAV turn behaviour. DME Arc procedures are always jerky and not at a continuous gentle turn rate. And it always turns at 30 degrees no matter the altitude is. By comparison, Fenix A320 is such a joy and very gentle during turns.

Interesting, i have clearly never had a problem with the turning, also no extrem banking. Is there a specific approach or flight situation when it happens?
