February 25, 20233 yr I would be in cockpit view then when I switch to spot view my AI planes and some building would be black. I would wait 15 to maybe 30 seconds then the textures would return to normal. Is there anything I can do to speed up the textures loading?
February 25, 20233 yr I have the same issue. Obviously your sliders for scenery takes time to load it, so lower them down.
February 25, 20233 yr In prepar3d.cfg you can change following parameter in the [GRAPHICS] section. MAX_TEXTURE_REQUEST_DISTANCE=32000.000000 That should help if your GPU can handle it. You could play with the value a bit. I think default is 1000. February 25, 20233 yr I had tested that texture drawing line in P3D config file and I still had the problem. I found that the best way is to move down sliders for the graphics, that way it loads faster. And put smaller number in the texture request distance.
February 26, 20233 yr 32000 is a massive increase compared to default. I would try 5000 as a first step. Having said that, I am not certain how significantly this tweak hits performance. This depends on the power of your GPU as this preloads you Vram a 6GB card may struggle with a higher setting, I have 11GB and 32000 which half max draw distance and it works. this tweak came via P3D devs. Raymond Fry.
