A Pilots Life V2 - What is My Pilot Rating?

Featured Replies

So I have been flying this for a couple of months and am a First Officer with a 95% Rating with 2,000 XP. but apparently  there is a "Pilot Rank". What is that? According to the manual,  it is a 1-5 system but does not show up on my dashboard and so I don't know where I stand.  My rating is pretty good, but I am not getting selected by the better airlines so I figure I must be missing something.

I sent a request for info to the developer weeks ago with no response and struggling to find information in the manual or elsewhere.

Thanks,

Dave

I believe the 1-5 system is a shorthand way to refer to the first 5 pilot ranks (JR FO, FO, Sr FO, Capt, Sr Capt). In the your case, First Officer is considered rank 2. The 1-5 does not take into account the various levels of Senior Captain. If your rating is 95%, that means you'll primarily get offers from 2-4 star airlines. If you apply for airlines you have a 66% chance of acceptance from a 2 star airline, 49% chance from a 3 star, 32% chance of a 4 star, and 20% chance of a 5 star.

Thanks Kevin. I was pouring through the manual trying to figure this our; your analysis seems reasonable, so I will go with it 🙂

In APL "Pilot Rating" is an average score based way too much on the very remote past, and your last 10 flight score average.  I have 512 flights in APLv2, and yet 50% of my rating is based on 502 flights done over a very long period of time so is not very current.  I've put in a ticket on the this and the dev said he would consider revamping the logic I hope he does..  "Pilot Rank" is as Kevin refers to as to do with your designation, your rank as a JR FO, FO, etc.    Even though there are 14 different "ranks", they only use the first 5--IOW there is no difference between Sr Capt Level 1, and Sr Capt Level 10 in terms of Rank.

Rating, IMHO, is WAY undervalued in APLv2.  You can be rated 99% and that is no different than being rated 70% in terms of hireability, which is ridiculous.   This means the probability of being hired is the same be your rating 70%, or 100%.  And as you know to get a score of 70% you'd nearly have to ram the plane into the side of a mountain!  JK, but you get the idea.
