The main problem is finding out what is overtaxing the CPU. Since my hardware should be able to keep up with pretty much any scenario, it makes no sense that approaching Victoria B.C. for instance with no traffic to be seen and no photogrammetry, should cause big stutters and/or sometimes a blank screen in my Reverb G2. Something must be taxing the CPU enough to pretty much stop it at times. My CPU has a custom water loop and never runs hot. I even monitored for throttling or thermal issues with the Intel utility, and neither of those is happening. I fly exclusively in VR, so the GPU has a bigger job, but the 4090 is running very cool and is barely utilized. So why a blank headset display for a few seconds? I have spent many hours trying to isolate things instead of flying, but now I figure enough is enough. I am just enjoying the times where everything works great, which is most of time anyway 😊 I9-13900K, RTX 4090, Reverb G2, Simrig Motion platform

April 3, 20233 yr Well it's frustrating as heck to have that happen especially w/ the hardware you're on. I spent a good 3-4 weeks troubleshooting about 3 mo ago all sources of stutters and less than perfect smoothness and it paid off in spades. I don't use VR nor 4K so do not need any hardware upgrades for the foreseeable future unless Asobo's fall surprise is a major amp up in cloud resolution in which case my (old!) 3080Ti will finally get more exercise! Yeah its super frustrating. I've spent maybe 2 weeks trying to determine if with my setup its just par for the course. All accounts now seem to suggest that as long as its not occuring every 5 seconds, i'm good, ie: just when aiming at a city or loading AI i guess and brief. Are you saying at less than 4k you never see a stutter or even a fps drop? I guess at those resolutions its probably the case. Also at one point i removed all addon KORD airports, ie: asobo and fsdt and the default didnt exibit this issue, or it was a fluke. So my guess its a combo of the fsdt/asobo kord + city landscape (also none if online features are fully off but whats the point of that haha) I have another pc to test the aero on, but it would be a bit of a pain to migrate the headset for a short test that almost certainly would be similar, i think. Since my optimizations done sometime around December last year I see almost no stutters anywhere in PMDG 738 and AS CRJ in and out of any airport. I'm flatly spoiled by it now and am ultra-sensitive to any kind of lack of smooth animation and stuttering. Since SU12 I'm seeing stuttering again, not bad by any stretch but as I say I'm spoiled w/ perfection. I try hard to make a point of not overreacting when an update is done as I expect some of this until the dust clears. I've done no troubleshooting to see if any addons are at fault, versus something in SU12 per se but if it persists after any of my apps are updated then will resume troublehooting. As I keep explaining I'm NOT focused on "FPS drops" or FPS I'm focused on ultra-smooth, stutter-free animation via using frame time variance as the indicator that hardware and software are setup optimally. In terms of what "FPS" offers, which is primarily better rapid panning tolerance, 30 is as low as I've had to go at the most demanding airports, but typically in the air where unlocked I might see 60fps I will lock down to 34 or so which I find for any kind of panning is sufficient, and will leave it at 34 when on the ground. Outside of panning performance ultra high frame rates aren't any more effective than 34 in this kind of flight sim. Here's a typical capture in the PMDG 738 of ultra low frame time variance which equates to ultra smooth animation quality at modest frame rates, pre SU12. This was done from pushback midway thru climb: And here we are now, in a much less demanding scenario, in the same plane, now post SU12. I actually cut this capture short it would have been much worse: Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync.
