April 18, 20233 yr Actually, none of the Assistance Options/Navigation Aids work (i.e., taxi ribbon and routes and waypoints). I have them enabled, but I can't find any aircraft and flight plan where they work. I get no on-screen prompts of any kind. I repaired MSFS, but no luck. Any suggestions to fix this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Dave Symanow
April 18, 20233 yr Have you tried turning it on from the assistance menu rather than the drop down menu when flying?
April 18, 20233 yr Once in a while, I notice that too. Then it works next time I fire it up. So, if nothing else works, shut it down and try later.
April 18, 20233 yr Moderator I'm not at my flight computer but IIRC you need to enable it in two places. You turn it on in the Options and then from the drop down menu in flight.. You also need to have contacted ATC Ground and requested taxi. RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
April 18, 20233 yr You have to enable them in the Assistance options panel and activate them in the in-game dropdown menu (the guy with a cap icon). Yes, why making it simple when you can make it complicated ? April 18, 20233 yr I can verify that having the options enabled in both places isn’t a guarantee of success. My taxi ribbon disappears a couples of times a month and I have both on. The next day, it’s back. I think the ribbon is getting bad advice from the ‘sometimes working’ ATC voices. Even the Co-pilot voice goes awol once in a while. Edited April 18, 20233 yr by Danno
April 19, 20233 yr Author Thanks to everyone. From tips in this thread I learned that you need to enable the nav aids in two places (main menu and bar at the top of the screen. Also, you need to use ATC. Clearance to taxi gets you the taxi ribbon, and approved flight plam and approval to take off gets you the waypoint prompts. I really wish they would publish a user man ual. How do they expect us to figure this out? Thanks again. Dave Symanow
April 19, 20233 yr In FS2002/2004/FSX, it was so simple and intuitive: You could toggle "Progressive Taxi" in the ATC window before takeoff and after landing with one click, and you could see the arrows on the ground. This is why it was called "Progressive": It was ahead of its time compared to a simulator that came out 20 years later. 😁
April 19, 20233 yr Just an fyi they did add a setting to toggle the taxi ribbon in one of the past updates so you can assign a button to it. I do notice sometimes it doesn't show up at all but in most cases it seems to show up, usually after I've chosen a runway and announced taxi. Edited April 19, 20233 yr by slashed2

The taxi ribbon will still be displayed but below ground level. I noticed that on a few fields where the taxiway was sloped downwards the taxi ribbon suddenly became visible. After all, the ribbons need to know where you want to park or take off, and the ATC is the one who assigns them to you.
April 19, 20233 yr The ribbon does not require taxi clearance from ATC although that is one trigger. Just announcing taxi intentions (to the active departure) on Unicom will also trigger the ribbon. Usually. When it’s working as designed. No ribbon when announcing clear of runway on Unicom. Edited April 19, 20233 yr by Danno
