Golden Palms in Harlingen, Texas had a similar arrangement. Whenever my late brother and I would visit with mom and dad, our meals were charged against their account, to be settled along with the fixed monthly expenses. Breakfast was almost always served buffet style, with lunch and dinner being ordered from the day's menu. The latter meals allowed one to choose between two entree choices and typically among four or so vegetables. Residents with special dietary needs were offered an alternative menu from which to choose. At least once a month a special event buffet-style meal would be served with a generally festive themed atmosphere, in celebration of a holiday or "just because..." 😄 Fr. Yes, but that was short lived. Both Charleston and Denver are busy cities and I want none of that. Sleepy Roswell is as close to Mayberry as I'll ever get. I don't want to live in an anthill or beehive anymore with polluted air and traffic jams and just too many people. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. Did you also have little puffs below your eyes and a sagging chin and wrinkles on your forehead? Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.
April 30, 20233 yr Wrinkles on forehead only. The most enjoyable post I read in the forum I think was one of yours. You had a new car with glass screen display and couldn't figure it out while driving down the road. Had to pull over and park just to study the basic functions necessary to operate the thing. April 30, 20233 yr Author Fielder, 3 1/2 years later I still can't use most of what's on that screen. But I have learned how to drive it. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.
