New Navigraph Weather Layers - what do you think?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I wonder if any of you have had a chance to experiment with the new Weather Layers introduced into the Navigraph Charts app?

https://navigraph.com/blog/weather-release?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=weather-release&utm_content=weather-release

This is available to those who have an Unlimited subscription to Navigraph.

I am wondering how accurate it is and how well it "synchs" with real weather imported into P3D from weather add-ons such as ASP3D?

I plan to give this a try this weekend on my next flight Down Under.

If anyone has first impressions, please could you share them in this post?

Cheers,
Mark

Using it with MSFS2020, a very nice addition to help planning a flight.

I also would like to know more about the sync with the weather in the sim. No answers from their forums or at least haven’t seen any so far.

Cheers, Ed

I'm iffy on it if it does not display the weather in sim. Be nice to get to a point where the sim's weather fully matches real world and then I can work my flights with the layers like I do real world. Then, just give us the ability to ask for deviations and we are in the game!

Interesting. Haven't really been reading about it. Where's the weather data coming from, that it's using? From MSFS or ?

I have that data already in SkyVector. But good that they include it in here as well.

Unfortunately, only 'live' weather is read here and not the weather from Active Sky.
So I can't do anything with this feature in p3d...
Most of my flights I perform with 'historical weather' !

kind regards,

Reality Is For People Who Can't Handle Simulation!

Thanks for posting.

I watched the YT vid and while Charts was showing precipitation ahead of waypoint Mumba, in the sim it really did not show this. The cloud coverage at that point looked too clear to me based on what was being injected into the sim.

Also it looks like the sim is MSFS, so perhaps there will be different behavior based on a different sim and a different weather injection app like ASP3D.

I will try it out this weekend.
