July 4, 20232 yr Good evening everyone, Once again I'm having a problem in FS9 with Imaginesim and texture bleed through. I bought KEWR years ago. Since then I have had a new pc which is only two years old and a new graphics card which is only 6 months old. In my KEWR, I am getting texture bleed thorugh around the runways again, I ahve had the same problem before with other Imaginesim airports and only happens with Imaginsesim airports. I have tried the following: Raised the elevation of the airport by 3ft using both ADE and AFX Deleted the Flatten bgl in the scenery folder Deleted the flatten entry in the scenery cfg file Deleted the exclude entry in the scenery cfg file Interestingly, that when i deleted both the exclude and flatten entries in the scenery cfg file, the bleed thorugh seemed to disappaear but then I had the default taxiways signs etc come up. I have already spent over 4 hours trying to figure this out and fix it, I simply do no have the time to keep wasting on trying to fix something I have already paid for. I do not have any third party mesh/vectors installed or terrain installed Any help mwould be appreciated as I am at my wits end yet again, spending hours trying to fix a simple problem. July 4, 20232 yr Gavin - you might find reading the last few posts at Help with Imaginesim KEWR scenery! - The FS2004 (FS9) Forum - The AVSIM Community interesting. No answers to your issue, I'm afraid, just advice to not use the scenery! John My co-pilot's name is Sid and he's a star! http://www.adventure-unlimited.org
July 4, 20232 yr Author Hi John, Thanks for your reply. I have already seen this post. Unfortunately I think I'm going to have to do a complete reisntall of FS9, thats the only way I managed to clear my last Imaginesim problem with texture bleed throughs at VIDP. I'm so annoyed, every bleed through problem I've had over the years has been Imaginesim.products only. Imaginesim said its an elevation problem, even though they have a flatten bgl and exclude bgl. And I have set the elevation higher but not a word not allowed thing works. Kind regards Gavin Moss
July 5, 20232 yr Hi Gavin, before you do this huge job reinstalling all again you may try this way with ADE:: Delete all the flattens you have for this airport. Don't delete the exclude file,. Take the original elevation, and set the elevation 0.003 ft below. Make a flatten in ADE (blue arrow) on the original elevation -0.003ft! like I did here in Saipan: Save your ADE to the scenery folder of KEWR and deactivate the original one. Good luck Dedl Edited July 5, 20232 yr by Dedl
July 5, 20232 yr Author Hi Dedl, Thank you for your reply. I did a complete reinstall of FS9 and and started off with Imaginesim VIDP. Also I have bleed through on this airport and on a clean basic fresh install of FS9 with no other addons at all. I have just tried your suggested instructions as above. I don't know if it's something to with FS9 cfg terrain settings or my Nvidia graphics card settings? I am not a graphics card expert o do not know what my settings should be if this is the problem. My Nvidia graphics card is: GTX 1650. I really need some technical help as this is happening with a clean new install of FS9 but only my Imaginesim addons. Kind regards Gavin Moss
July 5, 20232 yr Author Hi, I've just tried this flatten instructions and it hasn't made a difference. I'm so upset, I've been working on this problem for over 24 hours and nothing fix's it no matter what I do, I feel just like giving up and not install or use these airports I have paid for. I really need some proper help here. This never used to happen on my old pc with windows 7. Regards Gavin Moss
July 5, 20232 yr Hi Gavin, I have the addon KEWR airport in my FS9 collection myself and according to the contents of the default AP928170.bgl file, it's default elevation is 5.49 meters, which works out to be 18.0115 feet. However, I've had a single flatten switch at 18 feet (no decimals) in it's Scenery.cfg file entry for many years and have no problems with ground texture bleed throughs. The reason I made this flatten switch all those years ago was most probably because I had the same ground texture bleed throughs as you are now referring to.. Please also be aware that such problems have nothing to do with your graphics card, nor can they be influenced by excludes or such like. Good luck and regards. Hans .
July 5, 20232 yr Author Hi Hans Thanks for your reply. On the AFCAD I have the altitude is 18 feet. I'll try this next time. Unfortunately I'm not great at working with AFCADS, I know the basics like changing an elevation and parking spots but when it gets to creating flattens and excludes etc, I have no idea. I've looked at some posts before but they go into so much detail and I get lost. We are not all experts in knowing how to do things. I have noticed that when I do a new install of FS9, the terrain data doesn't look right i.e. the terrain radius etc are all =o like this: TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=0TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=0TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=0 I don't know what they should be? I am waiting for a reply from Imaginesim with some other suggestions, so far all they have said is that's in an elevation issue but when I change the elevation by a few feet, the problem remains in both KEWR and VIDP now. I emailed them today getting frustrated because I now have two of their airports with the same problem and all I got back was an email with AFCADS attached but for a completely different airport (one which I have never bought) and a slightly annoyed email from them saying that do I want their help or am I going to blame their products being faulty, and I got no more help from them today. This had made me upset (it's not the way a company should speak to a customer of over 15 years) and I'm tired of trying to sort this out, I've been doing this for the last 24 hours and nothing else. I really don't know what to do. Kind regards Gavin Moss
July 6, 20232 yr Gavin, One of the very basic addon airport elevation rules is that any elevations contained therein must be exactly the same as that of the default airport, therefore in the case of KEWR, at 18 feet. If this is somehow not the case, your parked aircraft will either be "hanging" above the apron or (partially) sunken into it. This also applies to all the Afcad elevations of runways, taxiways, etc. However, if such an addon airport's elevation is just very slightly different and your aircraft seems to be parked correctly on it's wheels, then ground textures could give rise to alternations between default and addon ones, in other words "bleeding through". I would want to advise you to find your scenery.cfg file and first copy/paste it somewhere as a safety backup. Then open the original and search downwards for "Newark". Mine looks like this but yours could be a little different here and there: [Area.nnn] Title=USA Newark Arprt Local=Addon Scenery\USA\Newark Arprt Active=TRUE Required=FALSE Layer=nn Flatten.0=18,N40 40.69,W74 11.95,N40 42.94,W74 10.55,N40 42.35,W74 8.92,N40 40.09,W74 10.33 Remote= The above flatten entry is the important one, so type it in exactly as above and in the same position, taking good care not to make any mistakes. Check and re-check your typed "Flatten" entry before saving your now edited scenery.cfg file. The full stops and the commas are also very important. The "Terrain" data entries in your FS9.cfg file have a lower priority, so lets try to solve your original "bleed through" problem first. Good luck and regards Hans
July 6, 20232 yr As far as those settings in the FS9.cfg, you could try: TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=4 TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=4 TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=0 but this is all part of dealing with "blurries" and not to do with elevation, as has been said already. The only other thing I can contribute is that it is important when changing the elevation of an airport to put the new file in two places: At the lowest possible level - to load BEFORE the FS default airport files (APxxxx etc)*. At the highest possible level, so it loads AFTER anything else. * - some airport design software creates a small file for this that only contains the critical information All intermediate files for airport elevation and flattens should be put out of use (I just rename them xyz.bgl.oou but anything that makes sure .bgl isn't at the end of the file name will do. I don't think I can help you further as I don't have the add-ons you refer to, but it is of some concern that so many of their sceneries seem to encounter this issue and I am wondering whether it is so difficult to deal with because they are not created in the typical way. July 6, 20232 yr Author Hi Hans and John, Thank you both for your replies. John, I am not sure sure what you mean by putting the new file before the default airport file? Do you mean create a new folder with scenery sub folder in somewhere like Addon Scenery, add it to the scenery library in FS and move it down below everything else? I have a problem with VIDP as well now , another Imaginesim scenery. I have done three new fresh installs of FS2004 over the last day. On these new installs, I have installed VIDP first before any other addon, so basically its the default sim with just VIDP added and I still get bleed through without me touching anything, so it must be something to do with the afcad. I have also mad esure I am running FS in administrator mode and windows xp service pack 2 compatability. I have emailed Imaginesim twice today with no reply. I have asked them for suggestions and help and they haven't responded today apart from yesterday saying its an elevation issue and having a go at me for getting frustrated. They replied yesterday when I got frustrated that now two of my airports have bleed through problems with: "Hi Gavin, Thanks for getting back to me. I do have a few further suggestions. But please let me know if you prepared to listen to the support I'm offering? Or have you decided that our products are at fault, notwithstanding that hundreds of thousands of other imaginesim customers are using our products quite happily day in and day out. Kind regards" Now they are not replying to my emails. This is not how a company should behave towards customers. I have bought 6 of their products over the years and been a customer for over 15 years now. I'm upset that they act like a child and refuse to talk to you if you get frustrated with problems with their own products. I look forward to any help. Kind regards Gavin
July 6, 20232 yr Author Hi, I have just read the instructions for changing an altitude in ADE for VIDP and followed it to the letter. However, it hasn't saved the altitude I wanted. Explanation as follows: Stock airport altitude: 943.999 feet Original Imaginesim altitude: 943.993 I changed the altitude in ADE to 943.999 for Imaginesim VIDP bgl to 943.999, check the airport properties and runways and all said 943.999. Then I complied it as per ADE instructions and saved. For some reason, the new ADE bgl and alt bgl are only showing altitude of 943.996? Higher than it was but still below the stock airport. Any help please? Kind reagrds Gavin
July 6, 20232 yr Author Hi everyone, I have in the end managed to increase the altitude of VIDP. However, no matter what i use or do to change it, I still have texture bleed through. I am at the end of my tether with this. I have been trying to sort this the last two days with very little help from Imaginesim and changing the altitude has had no change either. As a result, I am left with two products that I cannot fix or use due to the problems. I really don't know what to do. Personally, I have a dedicated directory named "AFD Low" (with a subdirectory of "scenery" of course) for my own convenience, but Scenery\World\scenery is low enough to be effective. 12 hours ago, gavi25 said: I have in the end managed to increase the altitude of VIDP. It seems to be a sad fact of life that today many developers (I can't speak for Imaginesim) will either try and tie you in knots or just ignore support requests when they are in the "too difficult" category. I hope somebody finds a solution for you. John Edited July 7, 20232 yr by John Hinson My co-pilot's name is Sid and he's a star! http://www.adventure-unlimited.org
