Seems a lot easier to actually capture the lightning strikes in XP, or it may just be that my PC and GPU are faster now so respond more quickly to the key press. And actually, that's one of the things I like about XP, the native "take a screenshot" function which I can map to a controller button (the "fire weapons" trigger on the stick, in my case). With MSFS I have to f*rt around with the X-Box Game Bar screen capture option and that means pausing the sim because I need both hands to grab the screen. This is actually what's problematic in MSFS. Lightning is more realistic compared to MSFS. Especially when i make a screenshots at the time of the lightning it's blurry and therefore less realistic to the eye. 🙂

Becausen you view a mostly light area like sky or your cockpit, it darkens the entire scene way too much. Can be hard to read the panel. Also the clouds lack any detail up close - they're puffy pillows honestly. I'm eagerly awaiting 12.06 as it's supposed to bring some better clouds (especially cirrus) and sky colors. Sunset in XP right now is awful...you get like black clouds and weird orange colors. But I do agree general lighting, especially distant terrain/clouds can look super realistic. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

That livery on that aircraft is a good combination, almost a good enough reason on its own to keep flying XP Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. July 14, 20232 yr Excellent series of images Andy. Any 747 is good in my opinion especially as they are a rare sight these days. I was very happy to have seen a 753 and 764 on my travels before the virus, two types I had never seen before. It woud be a boring world if we all liked the same thing.😉

I dont use the sim much at the moment but when I do it is MSFS. It is not that I don't want to fly but by the time I get a chance to "fly" in the evening, I am too tired!

Hey Andy: Nice sets of pictures...out of XP...! Thanks for visiting my hometown airport...🙂 .... In fact, I was there at KORD on Friday, picking up a longtime acquaintance of mine, and will be going out in a couple of hours today to drop her off at the InterContinental Hotel in downtown on Michigan Avenue, a couple of miles from the Willis Tower (always liked the original Sears Tower name better) seen in multiple of your shots above...The Hotel is a couple of miles further towards the Lake side. Do keep up occasional (virtual) dips into the XP experience, and glad you're enjoying the best of both (SIM) worlds ...🙂 ... Cheers ...!! Edited July 16, 20232 yr by P_7878
