Oops landing!

Recommended Posts

Ouch! It hurts to watch. Such a beautiful plane. I'll land like that in the sim quite a bit when my approach is horrible and I think no matter what I gotta land. Go arounds in the sim are so boring, but better safe than sorry in real life.

That sink rate was very telling 😬. This is where stabilized approach criteria comes in handy. It's very easy to get pulled into the "make it work" black hole and sometimes it's hard to get out. There are times where your sink rate may be higher, for example, steep approaches. Either way, the sink rate should be controlled enough to adjust back to the normal landing picture and stabilized approach criteria. As stated above, they walked away from it and hopefully not a large hit to the pocket.

That might just be what the doctor should order. to be honest. Hopefully his quick rise to aviation internet-fame is enough to make him re-consider wild approaches like this.

This situation showcases a pilot who acted recklessly and irresponsibly. His license should be revoked. As mentioned by @G550flyer, they did not adhere to stabilized approach criteria and had no understanding of when to perform a go-around in either VFR or IFR conditions. It is disheartening.
