It's not about the conditions you're climbing in, but what altitude you're trying to reach, reference your weight and speed. It’s depending by Simbrif usually between 340to 360

If thrust is 95-ish% during cruise and you're maintaining speed you're probably going very fast or flying close to max altitude, maybe a combination of that or even very high headwinds. If you put in a high CI you will still be fast in cruise even if you're flying at ECON cruise for that CI. Need more info; screenshots of the relevant FMC pages and displays would be helpful to spot if something is off in the setup. What info you need? I will send you.

It's kind of a controversial subject in the flight sim community, but it is what it is. I don't really have an issue with it, but I understand some people not wanting their full name out on an internet forum. To each their own.

I've been going for around 35 That's about normal, although it's probably already on the high side since most airlines seem to go for lower ones like 10 these days as long as on schedule, with about 50, 80 or higher if running late. But it's variable per flight and not a constant value and even changes throughout the flight to account for possible delays. For a big US airline 10 is the default orientation for the 737 with 80 if running late and 120 is max, but again, the CI used varies a lot.

I once had some word not allowed call me at work regarding a Facebook post that one of my employees made. It was on his own time, and his post had nothing at all to do with his work. The complainer noticed that he had our company name in his profile and somehow determined where exactly he worked (we have many locations). He was quite incensed that I told him that I didn't give a dang about my employee's personal opinions expressed on his own time. The person then threatened to go to HR since I wasn't going to do anything about it. I realized that complete anonymity on the internet is not possible, but the less information the nut jobs have to work with, the better. i9-10850K, ASUS TUF GAMING Z490-PLUS (WI-FI), 32GB G.SKILL DDR4-3603 / PC4-28800, GIGABYTE RTX5080 16GB WF OC 3 FAN running 3440x1440

High engine thrust setting at cruise - are you sure the gear, flaps and or spoilers aren't deployed? Thrust (using autothrottle and VNAV or FLT LVL Change) will always be high during climb. If you are using a really high cost index, or set a high cruise mach setting you will see high thrust. I think I've only ever seen around 90% in cruise, and it's usually more like 80% - 85%. Thrust required to cruise at a given speed will also vary depending on altitude. I think I solve the problem if flight level 370 88%-90% with 59.7 ZFW 12 tons of fuel

The question is, how does the altitude you're climbing to compare with what your FMC says is optimum and Max altitude for current conditions? In reality when we get our final climb clearance to cruise, we set it in the MCP and then verify it in 4 places: the MCP, pressurization panel, FMC cruise altitude, AND by checking it against optimum and verifying we're good for it. If you're blindly trying to climb to an altitude simbrief gave you without knowing if you can get there, you can obviously run into performance issues. Andrew Crowley
