FLIGHT SIMULATOR WON'T LOAD AGAIN

Featured Replies

MSFS 2020 loads to what looks like 100% but never goes to the main screen page. Last time this happened to me I re-installed, don't feel like going thru that again. Anybody have any fixes or solutions to this problem. I haven't added any add on's in over a month. Don't know what the problem could be. Thanks for any help!

If you on store version. Log off xbox app. Update windows apps. Restart PC. Login xbox app. That should fix it

And log out of the Xbox app, reboot and login again. That helped me a couple of times. I usually do the same with the MS Store app just to be sure.

I agree. That same routine has helped me about three times over the past two years.  Hope that solves it for him.

John,

I very recently had this problem which came after the last mandatory update and after posting a query, I actually got some responses/suggestions which did not actually solve the problem. Thanks anyway guys.

Initially I went to the C/windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts to remove the 127.0.0 entries (put there by incorrect shutdown of the google replacements app.  This despite the fact that I had not used the google replacement map for approximately 6-8 months, There was nothing there (as far as I can see, this is just a couple of example files) but I still could not get into MSFS.

I then renamed my community folder but that did not solve the problem either.

Next came the dreaded 24 hour process of uninstall and reinstall (despite 300mbps internet) and that did not help either.

I followed that up by yet another uninstall/reinstall after renaming my Official folder as well. Still no resolution.

A few days later, after many further fruitless attempts to sort it all out, I got a windows 11 update notification which I did.

Voila!  MSFS restored and running beautifully again.

My only observation after this laborious process is that we all have a price to pay to use this brilliant programme LOL Essentially though, it is very well worth the effort.  I am dreading the new MSFS2024 due to my not so fond memories of the initial start to MSFS2020. Notice that I said dreading, because I just know that however good or bad it is going to be, I am interested enough to know that I am going to buy it.

That has been a rather long winded tale of woe but these are all things we have to check other than the uninstall/reinstall bit. Any one of the above could resolve your problem or you may indeed, have to find yet another solution. I hope this has been a bit of help for you and I genuinely wish you the best in finding and fixing the problem.
