Good YT video for those not yet trying VR.

I'm keen to order one, but I've never purchased a headset over $1000 from Meta. I'm wondering whether we'll have to pay additional duty tax or will the units be shipped from a warehouse in Australia?.

Are there any Australian Quest Pro owners who purchased directly from Meta, who could share you shipping experience?

I just pulled trigger and pre-ordered Quest 3 at $499 + $30 tax.

At $530 it only needs to be somewhat better than G2 and I'll be fine. Hopefully it's a (maybe small) step up from G2, and lets me comfortably wait to see what can be offered by the coming new high-end headsets like Varjo Aero 2 etc. To me, >$1000 headsets must be in a league clearly above G2, say, at least "twice" as good.

I too am coming from a G2 and going to get the Q3. Th G2 is a blurry mess so I am sure we both will be happier with the Q3.

just reading the responses and feedback across the web, it may have already wiped the floor with the others, even before it's officially on sale

Wow, that looks fantastic. One big reason I jumped on Quest 3 is its passthrough, so I can easily play my hardware buttons and switches while in VR. This looks more than enough for the job. I probably can even read real VFR sectional charts and my real iPad screen with ForeFlight while in VR, that would make things so close to real flight.

p.s the flickery stuff in the above video is likely the phone adjusting it's camera sensor "read out time", to try and match the quest 3 screen refresh rate, to reduce or eliminate banding. I'm confident it's not what's coming out of the Q3 displays

With Quest 3, it will be just a matter of time someone makes a MR/AR app that blend one's real home cockpit into MSFS VR image. To many simmers, that could be the best of both.

someone's said they've been testing one for a while

Way more than enough for operating hardware while flying VR. Now I pray the USB link would work well to maintain good image quality and fps in Quest 3 in MSFS VR.

although he's using it under a lot of light, it still could work out well as a very cheap alternative to Hololens for remotely assisted field work etc

some feedback from reddit - If you have a 4XXX card, via virtual desktop, the AV1 codec is giving 11ms latency at 90Hz, set at 120Mb/s encode rate, with no noticeable compression artefacts

Surprisingly, via usb link, the reported refresh options are 72, 80 and 90 Hz at the moment.
