October 7, 20232 yr You see map tiles with the message "These basemap tiles will no longer be available as of October 31, 2023. The site administrator can upgrade to the new map at stamen.com/faq." The free StamenTerrain map theme is discontinued. You can select another map theme in the LNM menu "View" or you can use a new map theme for the new StamenTerrain which requires an account right here: https://stadiamaps.com/stamen/onboarding/create-account/ Download the map theme file below and install it in LNM map themes:https://www.littlenavmap.org/downloads/Map Themes/ Installation instructions and more information about map themes:https://www.littlenavmap.org/manuals/littlenavmap/release/latest/en/MAPTHEMES.htmlhttps://www.littlenavmap.org/manuals/littlenavmap/release/latest/en/MAPDISPLAY.html#map-themes You will see a new "Stadia StamenTerrain" map in the LNM map themes list and a new entry "Stadia API Key" in LNM options. Create an account at "stadiamaps.com" and create an API key. Copy the key and insert it into the "Stadia API Key" in LNM options. Restart LNM and StamenTerrain is back. Note that this service is free if you do not download more than 200000 map tiles a month. No need to use one of the paid plans and no need to enter credit card information. After installation if you still see tiles with the message: Go to LNM main menu Tools -> Files and directories -> Show map cache. Close LNM and delete the stadiastamenterrain and stamenterrain folders to clear the cache. Alex Edited October 20, 20232 yr by albar965 Removed external link Alex' Projects: Little Navmap
October 14, 20232 yr Hi. I have a Stamen API Key but I do not have the "Stamen API Key" option in the "Map Display Keys" screen. I have a "ThunderForest API Key" instead. I do have the StamenTerrain selected in my View/Themes. Can you help ?

Most likely the map is not installed correctly or the LNM map theme path points to the wrong location. See https://www.littlenavmap.org/manuals/littlenavmap/release/latest/en/MAPTHEMES.html for installation instructions. Alex Alex' Projects: Little Navmap
October 16, 20232 yr I seem to have a more fundamental problem/issue. I have copied the map theme files from the first link above (https://filetransfer.io/data-package/Oe1gNKee#link) and the second link is no longer viable; have you moved it lately ? The "Select Themes Directory" option from the Cache and Files menu found my Map Themes directory but would not list the .dgml file or the .png (unpacked from the link above) in the directory thus it says "No map themes found inside". Will an update be coming out soon to address these issues ?

Nothing moved. All links are still available. Just checked. 48 minutes ago, thecanarian said: The "Select Themes Directory" option from the Cache and Files menu found my Map Themes directory but would not list the .dgml file or the .png (unpacked from the link above) in the directory thus it says "No map themes found inside". Please follow the installation instructions from user manual. The options dialog does not list any dgml files neither do you select any. You select a folder where LNM scans for map themes. Please provide a screenshot of folders if it still does not work. 50 minutes ago, thecanarian said: Will an update be coming out soon to address these issues ? No, not soon because I see no issues and I'm working on a bigger update with a few more new features. Alex Alex' Projects: Little Navmap
October 16, 20232 yr Author Again, there is no issue and for sure no one requiring an update. Install it properly and it will work. Alex' Projects: Little Navmap
October 20, 20232 yr I followed the instructions and it does seem to be working I think. One issue I do have is when I zoom out on the map, the grey boxes are still there which is annoying, however when I zoom in far enough, the grey boxes disappear.

The downloaded image tiles (PNG or JPG) are stored for two weeks on your disk to avoid excessive network downloads. I have cache set to the max 8Gb and the Stamin map uses almost all of it. clearing it fixed the issue, thanks. I have a question, I see it says at Stadia Maps I can download 200000 tiles a month (i think) but I really like to spend a lot of time exploring large parts of the Stamin map as I'm always looking for new, interesting places to fly with interesting terrain so being that I zoom in and out all over large parts the world map, would that use my 200000 tiles faster? I don't want to run into a situation where I can't zoom in and load the more detailed tiles because I reached the maximum (I'm not exactly sure what the size of a tile is) and I really don't want to have to pay for a subscription unless I have no choice. Sorry, I cannot really answer that but keep in mind that the tiles are cached. LNM will not download any tiles if you regularly go to the same places. Also you do not zoom in to the lowest levels when flying (means less tiles downloaded). I think this limit is hard to reach. Alex Alex' Projects: Little Navmap

Alex Thank you for your reply. That's what I was wondering, if the 200000 limit is easy or hard to reach. Like you said the cache helps so hopefully I won't reach that limit.
November 7, 20232 yr shoot, this is my favorite map to use in LNM. will it eventually stop working, or can I continue to use a cached version or something?
