Ground physics - weird behavior

I can get the 172 weathervaning at 10 knots crosswind on a snowy runway. Which debunks anything the OP reported as "issue".

I haven't tried snowy runways in a while. Does MSFS simulates the difference between a dry, wet and icy runway now? It didn't in the recent past, if I remember correctly....

The video above is quite clear. The wind does affect the aircraft on ground, but not sideways 😄 Looks like a major issue in the CFD simulation. Let's hope Asobo fixes that in MSFS 2024.

Only outside realistic wind speeds. There is no issue. Provide evidence under realistic conditions.

But his video's are not correct. I have tested with default Cessna 172 and default DC-3. Both weathervane into the wind in a up-to-date MSFS. The OP has either forced the aircraft or the sim to make them behave like they do or he is not using a current, up-to-date version of MSFS.

Ah, that's an important remark.

By up-to-date, do you mean the SU14 beta or just regular SU13 ? I might try it right now if it's SU13.

Most likely not even >=SU10 as that's when the ground handling improvements in the core FM came and the C172 was updated to use those right with the SU10 release.

Ok I can confirm this. I just gave it a try with the default Cessna 172 G1000 on the parking with parking brakes set.

If I set the wind to be sideways and I increase the wind speed, the aircraft tails gets blown sideways and the plane starts to tilt sideways and rotate.

So there is something wrong, not with the sim, but with the video posted earlier indeed.

I just watched the video from the initial post, titled "...part 6...". So I got the same results, the C172 in my sim gets blown sideways exactly like in the video around 0:40 or so.

So, is there any issue in the way the aircraft reacts in that case ?

Or is the problem about another aircraft instead, and the C172 is fine ?

Ok, I watched the C172 video more closely and I guess the only question would be about the fact that the aircraft startings sliding sideways against the wind, while it should be the opposite.

Guys, PLEASE!! Read/watch THOROUGHLY my posts/videos.

Yes and no. First, some other aircraft stay glued to the ground (e.g. the CTSL and even the highly praised iniBuilds A310), be it at 10, 20, 50, 100, 150 kts crosswind.

Second, the C172 slides away with 40+ kts (however independent if on dry, wet or snowy runway). BUT: I've written it somewhere further above (several times) - starting at 4:45 min, you can see how it is sucked into the wind at 37 kts (parking brake set).

EDIT:

Finally 🙏 someone understood it 👍😉.

EDIT 2: I have the latest version of MSFS, as I run it through Steam (as it only works through Steam on Linux and you can't refuse updating). But that's also something what I have written already in my very first post.

BTW, also the PC 6, DC 3, Icon A5, A320 show the same behavior. You can watch my videos or try yourself ...
