Nvidia Inspector settings for XP12...

Recommended Posts

Please help me find out what the best settings could be for an RTX 3060Ti

I have set a profile with:

- Tripple Buffering ON

- Vertical Sync 1/2 Refresh Rate ( I have VSync ON in game )

- Vertilcal Sync - Tear Control Adaptive

- Antialiasing Transparency Supersampling 4x Sparse Grid Supersanpling ( have 4 x MSAA in game )

- Threaded Optimization Off

It is running at an acceptable level of performance and stability, but I welcome your suggestions !!!

Main Simulation Rig:

Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti, 1 TB & 500 GB M.2 nvme drives, Win11.

At what resolution?

4x SGSS is gonna be a lot for a 3060Ti to handle at any resolution.

Not sure half of those are actually functional, considering it's Vulkan. Can tell you Triple Buffering isn't doing anything for you, as that flag is for OpenGL games only.

If your system is running OK, as you say, why try to fix something that isn't broken? Wait for 12.1.0 and its promised graphics and performance improvements.

I am not dissatisfied with the graphics but just wanted to find out how much I can push antialiasing, although as it is by default it's more than good to me and my close sight with spectacles 🙂

Only thing I always do is setting refresh rate to half my monitor which is 60Hz, thus getting a more or less solid 30 FPS. But I can actually leave it at VSync only in game and get a consistent 56-60+ FPS all of the time.

Tried all kinds of settings with Nvidia Inspector, Control Panel etc., nothing gets rid of the bad AA and shimmering, you might as well wait till the 12.1 graphics update, hopefully they're serious about graphics this time.

Image quality -- specifically its inability to smooth out lines and the swimming/shimmer where it tries -- is XP12's biggest weakness.  It's a software deficiency--no settings will fix it at present.

Generally, when using VSync, it's better to lock it at a rate that can be consistently maintained (in your example 30 Hz) as excursions below the synced refresh rate produce stutters.

For me one of the worst is the total absence of light on clouds...

Both P3D v5 and even better v6, and MFS 2020 do it rather well / convincingly, and I believe even XP11 did it somehow...

Regarding lighting, I am not sure if XP properly models the view angle (dead angles) of runway lighting ? Have to check again....

Moon will illuminate clouds in the current XP release.

I checked and runway lights disappear for example when looking at the runway from the side. So I think it's modeled.

Yep, that's the only case since a couple versions back... 🙂  not bad, but not enough for a guy like me who wants it not inferior to the scenery and graphics level of Airlinetools A32x 😆

So I'm not the only one experiencing this. It's so bad at airports it's hard to bear. XP11 did not show this on my system (GTX2070 fwiw), textures/objects/scenery was nice and crisp.
