Does MSFS 2020 play well with other sims..?

Recommended Posts

MSFS 2020 DOES in deed play with "other" simulators, even simultaneously and totally fluid, using only 40-60 % CPU and memory. both simulators respond to the same single joystick and Honeycomb Bravo throttle, flaps, rudders etc simultaneously, if you have two separate sets of controllers you could assign them each to their own corresponding simulator.

only 40% - 60% CPU and memory in use.

with only one set of controls it gets a little tricky to keep both aircraft in sync after take off though. now that's what I call situational awareness. takes some practice to fly 2 separate aircraft at the same time with a single yoke, but this way you could easily double your hours logged. 🤣

considering we were using only 50% of the pc's resources, we could still add DCS World and P3D. have to go and get some more joysticks first. 🤣

very nice.

P3Dv4, P3Dv5, X-Plane, DCS, MSFS2020, all fine.  I'm not sure how any of them could conflict with the other, but there you go!

If you have MSFS 2020 installed along with X-Plane 12 and DCS, without issues, I would appreciate a thumbs up.

I am building out a new machine and would appreciate some guidance.

Unfortunately, I've seen a lot of trouble on my machine.

Passengers in the P3D version of GSX have grown restless at waiting over 12 months for flights that were due, but never arrived or departed, caused by a loss of interest in their sim by the chief pilot. Their anger increased as they have recently noticed their MSFS counterparts receiving an unaffected service on a nearly daily basis.

The government's plan at keeping them apart by using separate PC drives was working well, but a lack of space on my M.2 drive has meant MSFS has slowly started migrating onto my SSD and the locals aren't happy.
Go-slow protests initially forced a government U-turn, so that MSFS content stayed entirely on the M.2. However, with demand again exceeding supply, the inevitable transfer of content again to SSD has now been met with full-scale riots.

Load times into MSFS are as long as they have ever been and delays to departures (curiously, of the same length of time it takes to cook and and eat my dinner) are common occurrences.

It is a dynamic and evolving situation here. Rolling news channels will continue to bring you the very latest from the front line... 😅

( @Seahawk72s  There is absolutely no conflict with multiple sims installed. Disk space will be at a premium, unless you have thin installs. Enjoy each of your flight sims!)

I use MSFS for nothing but visuals, and PSX (Aerowinx) to control everything related to the aircraft. So I have two sims not only running at the same time, but networked together. They both run fine.

I do the same, and indeed it works very well!

I don't think that, or the other issues, have anything to do with having various sims loaded, per se.  Full hard drives on the other hand will absolutely cause slow load times, especially if you have limited RAM on the machine.  Fragmented drives (non-SSDs of course), and lest we forget the power supply... a power supply that is barely keeping up will cause extremely slow load times.... I've seen computers take up to 20 minutes just to load Windows due to a power supply that I knew wasn't powerful enough, in this case the person had added a new graphics card without updating the power supply.

Anyway, I really believe the various programs in of themselves are not the problem, I've run numerous sims for flight sim development and testing purposes for a great many years without any issues whatsoever.  As far as GSX does, I can't speak to that but Umberto over at FSDT should be able to help you.

Tons and tons of experience here on AVSIM, I believe it remains the very best place to get technical support for issues like you're having. I'm happy to help in any way I can.

My very best to you sir.

My humour clearly didn't come across in the entirety of my previous post. Never mind.

Aside from near full or full disk drives, as you correctly pointed out, I absolutely do not believe that different sims on the same PC will cause any problems.
