i5-14Gen 32GBDDR5 RTX4070 - Quest3 or Quest2 ? Please advise

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I just got my new desktop a few days ago for a good price with i5-14600KF + 32GB DDR5 6000 + Gigabyte RTX4070 12GB + 2GB SSD WD850x.

I've never tried any VR before. Not sure if my 4070 is enough for Quest 3.

Please advise if I should go for Quest 3 or used Quest 2?

Thank you very much!

The general benchmarks I have seen says that the performance of a 4070 is more or less on par with a 3080 in most games. I had a 3080 when I got my Quest 3 and MSFS had quite acceptable performance with mostly high graphics settings. So I assume you will be quite all right with a 4070.

Yup, I had a 3080 when I first got my Pico 4 which has a slightly higher resolution so the 4070 should be capable. You can also use Fixed Foveated Rendering and DLSS to improve performance so I would avoid the Quest 2 if the 3 is in your budget.

Thank you. Quest 3 is not budget frinedly option for me, but could go for it. also considering Pico 4 instead...

Also, I am considering Reverb G2, but concerning about HP will stop supporing it in 2026.

I have both a Quest 2 and 3, and I also had a Reverb G2. I would absolutely recommend you get a Quest 3. The lenses and image quality is so much better than the other two options that it is absolutely worth the asking price.

A Pico 4 isn't a bad option but I upgraded from a Pico 4 to the Quest 3 and there is a noticeable difference thanks to the clearer lenses. If this is just for MSFS and the choice is Quest 2 or Pico 4, go for the Pico 4. Quest 3 is still a better option though.

If you're considering the Pico 4, you might also consider waiting until April tor the Pico 5 release.

At this time, the Pico 5 is strictly rumour and the bigger rumours concerning that is that there will be no consumer oriented Pico 5. May want to disregard that as an option.

I7 processor, 3060 12GB card here on a quest 3… everything on ultra, resolution isn’t mind blowing BUT it will do … very smooth and a fantastic experience 👍👍

That would be a pity!
