So will this enable hunting for subs at periscope depth?

What I can totally envision is sightseeing for coastal wrecks in shallow water:

Tools for this are in WED now.

That looks very good! 👍 But without AI-generated underwater pebbles, almost useless isn‘t it? 😂😉

Soon we'll see crabs walking around and reef sharks near the shore.

On at least one of your monitors.

Friendly reminder: WHITELIST AVSIM IN YOUR AD-BLOCKER. Especially if you're on a modern CPU that can run a flight simulator well. These web servers aren't free...

So very cool.

I'm gonna be a nit-picker and say that ocean water is very rarely as crystal clear as in the video, particularly in near-shore settings. Lakes and other very still bodies of water frequently can be, tho.

But dang it's nice to see under the sea - I'd rather have it than not!

enjoy it while you can 🤣, aiui fix for that is theoretically in 12.1 alongside clouds reflecting off the water, which will go a looong if not all the way to coloring it properly. So you have a few weeks to pick that nit before it joins all the others in the annals of history.

Water turbidity will be implemented in 12.1.0 IIRC

In Oscar's video, this is very different, it's actually orthos under the water, which is why this is such great progress, it gives a real 3D effect to the water, and I can imagine this will look stunning once people start generating Caribbean islands, reefs etc..

With further changes to water and turbidity coming in future versions, there is a lot happening in this department.

So from what I gather the 3D water will not really be visible by default unless we are using a program like O4XP to generate orthos?

Why, Not everyone uses ortho, that would make Laminar look really stupid. I guess we can expect another scenery update.

Actually if you watched the video, they talk about adjusting the depth so they have to provide it.
