November 20, 200718 yr I could not install Ground Environment X? I tried it in the safe mode and it worked. Except it did not tell me what file folder it should be in. Can some one tell me what file folder Ground Environment X is in, so I can duplicate it using the safe mode.
November 20, 200718 yr You shouldn't be having any problems like that. Could you let us know exactly what steps you are taking to install?
November 20, 200718 yr 1. Tried to install normal2. Tried to install it with Firewall and virus protection off.3. Tried to install in the admin mode4. Tried to install under windows xp sp2 mode. And finally I installed it in the safe mode but when it cam to a directory in came up C: Program Files. There was no directory where it supposed to go.Dave
November 20, 200718 yr So when you try a "normal" installation what errors or messages do you get - if any?
November 20, 200718 yr If I'm understanding what your asking correctly it doesn't install the textures directly from the download, it creates a program which, when launched, is sort of an interface that allows you to install the textures from there and check for updates etc.... That's what is put in the C:Program Files directory.
November 20, 200718 yr I made my own directory C:Program FilesGround Enviroment. I wanted to know with a normal install what is the directory?
November 21, 200718 yr Yeah, I'd say that's a setup bug. I installed on XP and got the same response. I changed it to install to my FSX directory at C:Flight Simulator X and it installed fine.It will create a directory C:Flight Simulator XGround Environment X, then in there I created a directory called GE-X Backup, and that's where I pointed the backup directory too.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180 Tom Perry
November 21, 200718 yr Although I had no problems with the GEX installation, I found the verbage a little confusing.
November 21, 200718 yr Author Commercial Member It could be a permissions issue also. We found that in beta testing, especially in Vista. You can install it anywhere, including a root drive because it all goes into a Ground Environment X subfolder that is created. The best thing would be to right click and always run as Administrator (if you are having any problems). And of course, always check to see if any security application or Data Execution Protection is causing problems. Thanks, Steve Halpern Flight One Software
