VSync in FS2020 or in NCP?

Featured Replies

Just a quick-n-dirty question. What is better, VSync On in FS2020 or in NVidia Control Panel? Or even not at all set to On?

Thanks,
Hans

Thanks, I am not using the dlss/dlsq files, so far I had vsync in sim, but was just wondering if it perhaps would be better to set vsync in NCP. I just will go on using vsync in sim.

with your spec i would try NCP half refresh rate , also make max performance is on , and clamp the negative LOD bias and also use 16x anisotropic filter in the NCP and turn it off in sim. give that a go

vsync OFF in the sim and ON in the Nvidia Control Panel, for my setup this works way, way better than using the in-game vsync.

4K @ 60 hz single screen, 4090 + 7800X3D, DX12 mode, FG on.

As above, using NCP for V-Sync, off in the sim. I also have G-Sync monitor, so no frame rate limit is set. BUT be aware, even with V-Sync set up in this way, the in-sim V-Sync is not totally “off”. For example, I have V-Sync on in NCP and off in the sim. However if I briefly turn it on in the sim, set 100% monitor refresh rate and then turn it off, I get significantly lower performance, even stutters, compared to turning it on, selecting 50% refresh rate and then turning it off again. I then get an amazing liquid smooth display. In other words, even though it is OFF in the sim, the greyed out setting for 50% or 100% refresh rate still has a massive effect. May sound peculiar but it is repeatable and real.

No G-sync here, GregH, but I also will try out your suggestion by turning V-sync on/off in sim briefly while setting it to 100% and V-sync in NCP is active.

How is V-Sync in NCP and in the sim different?

Hardware: i7-8700k, GTX 1070-ti, 32GB ram, NVMe/SSD drives with lots of free space.
Software: latest Windows 10 Pro, P3Dv4.5+, FSX Steam, and lots of addons (100+ mostly Orbx stuff).

Mace you really should consider getting at least a 120hz/144hz screen difference with the 4090 is great ! i just got one makes a whole world of difference
