Unable to alt/enter after installing lossless scaling

Featured Replies

Hello Gang!

After installing lossless scaling and hitting the "scale" button for the first time, I can no longer do alt/enter to enter or exit windowed vs full screen mode.  When I launch the sim it automatically goes into full screen mode and if I hit alt/enter to access any other program, the screen goes from full screen to a bigger form of full screen and no option to select other programs.  Super weird.  Any of you geniuses out there have any ideas how to tackle this one?

Thanks!

Sincerely,

Dennis D. Müllert

Did you turn off scaling in the LS app? Just use frame generation only.

Yes, scaling is off.  What is FG?

Thanks

FG = Frame generation, but I assume you already have that on. So this only happens when using the LS app?

Well.  After the initial episode now it happens all the time, whether LS is activated or not.  Is almost as if something got changed in my graphics settings behind the scenes.  No idea what might control this.

So you can't alt+tab to any other app? Sounds very odd. Perhaps a video of the issue might help.

I got that issue too, after using Lossles scaling, MSFS didnt allow me to minimize the screen via Alt/enter, I could only switch between window, and an oversize screen which exceeded the borders, so I switched to that big screen, and then killed MSFS via the task bar, Once rebooted it was all OK and I never used again that Lss app.

That's it - you have described my same issue perfectly.  I managed to get around the issue by matching my screen resolution to the screen resolution on MSFS and then doing alt/enter.  It's still not perfect, but at least I am now able to do what I need to do.

Once you have Lossless Scaling controlling your video output it seems that hiting Alt+Enter will do nothing if trying to minimize your MSFS screen to open another windows program, etc. (something you can always anticipate by opening such programs before any of your flights, mostly because most of us rarely use the computer for other things while we're actually flying/running MSFS).

To get around this little issue in a very easy way, use the Alt+TAB combination to cycle around the windows programs that are opened in the background during your MSFS session and look for Lossless Scaling, select it and simply "Unscale" it by pressing the top-right blue button and wou'll be able to minimize MSFS again by pressing Alt+Enter as you normally do and do whatever you'd like directly from your desktop. No need to change any in-game resolution to match your monitor, or at least I can assure you this is not needed on any of my setups (both laptop and desktop PCs). If you need to get back to your flight, hit the Scale button (top-right blue button) again and you're all set.

I recently purchased and installed Lossless Scaling and I have to say it does wonders on my systems. Even using FG X2 mode, I've been able to get up to 3 times the FPS rendered by the sim, which is fantastic (when I use FG X3 mode, I get a little bit of a lag when panning around from the outside of my aircraft, but people will have to play a bit with the utility to find the best settings for each particular case, as PCs are different from one to another).

Hope this helps.

Same here.  I usually need to Alt-Enter out of the sim so to access another program, etc when flying.  I realized I could hit the Window button on the keyboard which then opens the menu at the bottom and you can navigate to whatever you want.  Not ideal, but I can at least do what I need to do.  Also, the keyboard shortcuts for LS does not work when in the sim. It only works if the LS app is in-focus.
