X plane 12 questions

Featured Replies

Greetings,

I haven't used X Plane 12 a lot recently.  The other day started it and updated to the most recent release 12.1.0 rc2.  Graphics seem to be wonky,  The first problem is that even though I enable AI aircraft, none appear when I fly.  The other issue is I do a lot of flying at KSMO which is Santa Monica airport in Calif.  When I take off headed west over the ocean, the beach and shorelines are loaded with trees that should not be there. This is not normal.  I never had a problem with AI aircraft before or trees where they absolutely should not be,

Can somebody please give me an idea as to what might be going on?

Thank you in advance.

I don't know for sure but in my xp12 installs I always push the trees slider almost full left, in both xp and asobish...

Well I thought I would have a look. Standard XP12.1 no SimHeaven America only Orbx forests. Airport was stock and nicely done lots of static as for AI lots of ground traffic etc but no aircraft AI unless it is provided as a file for the airport you need something else like an AI package to see anything.

Now flew west coastline beach and beach edge are all normal with no trees and other scenery seems to be fine no glitches or weird stuff.

So I guess something has not updated or corrected. Run the XPlane updater and do scenery update on line - it will find a fix any issues then do the same for the XPlane version or program.

If that does not fix it cannot say why at all unless you have some add on scenery or similar still on your system!

Thank you I’ll try both suggestions.

If 3D ground objects are more of a disturbance than an enhancement you may as well stick to any flight simulator from the 1990s.

Default AI aircraft can be observed on the map. It is never guaranteed that one will spawn right at your particular airport. This behavior can not be changed.

Default scenery offers only a limited representation of what is out there. A scenery overhaul is on the development roadmap.

Oh, not really.... World Scenery wise I require the very basic, but want detail at the airports, weather, modern flight dynamics engines, avionics and ATC / AI... All this stuff was not available back then.
