August 12, 20241 yr I emailed the following to varjo support but maybe someone can help here since they are taking days/weeks to respond: I have narrowed this crash down some more and it is tied to the steam VR status window. I am able to recreate the crash by the following steps. 1.) start varjo base 2.) click steam vr under the tools menu in varjo base, wait for the little steam vr window to pop up 3.) start the flight and enter vr 4.) exit vr 5.) close the small steam VR window 6.) re-enter VR and the sim will crash. If I do the opposite, which is start the flight without clicking steam VR, sometimes the flight will crash when the small steam VR window opens by itself at some point during the flight. If I am flying in VR mode the sim will crash right away when this happens, if I am not in VR the sim will crash as soon as I enter VR if the steam VR window has popped up at any point during the flight. So the issue is being caused by something that is changing the steam vr status during flight. Is there some way to completely disable steam vr? Interesting that you are starting Steam VR. I have been using the Varjo Aero for a few years as well, but I have never clicked the Steam VR button in the Varjo base.I have only the Vargo base running. MSFS VR has always worked directly for me without using Steam VR. Maybe that is your issue. I should also point out that I don't use the VR hand controllers in MSFS. I use my yoke and rudder petals and throttle quadrant. So maybe thats why I don't need Steam VR. If I dont start it, it sometimes starts by itself midflight causing a crash. Are you using the MSFS store version or the Steam version of MSFS? I have the store version, so I make sure steam is not runnng at all, not even in the background. So I have never had Steam VR start up in mid flight. Fortunately for me, my VR had been rock solid. I supose that if you have the Steam version of MSFS, then Steam running in the background would be required. Not sure if there is a way to disable Steam VR from starting. I am only familer with the MS store version. I did use Steam VR with DCS and it worked fine. Good luck with your troubleshooting. I know it can be very frustrating. I’m having all kinds of trouble with mine and I’m unsure what I’ve done.

That's not necessarily the steam VR window but indeed some background process tightened to VR Because: I use open XR in Varjo Base Start a flight Set my varjo HMD power on Enter VR Fly Leave VR Turn HMD VR off (or only change resolution in Varjo Base) Turn HMD VR on Enter VR.... Sim CTD Reproducible every time I don't have a idea what's the cause Regards, Marcus P.
