August 14, 20241 yr I rarely hear my GPU fan except sometimes approaching detailed airports and dense photo scenery and when I pause the sim using escape, I never hear it, but when I minimise to the taskbar in its paused state, the GPU fan goes like the clappers. When i go back into windowed or full screen, the GPU fan stops. I do have the low power setting enabled to stop animations in the menu. I just can't understand why the GPU fan goes at full pelt when the program is minimised. any thoughts? August 14, 20241 yr The only time mine does this is when Max Frame Rate somehow gets reset to unlimited in Nvidia control panel. Happened once or twice. 9950X3D - X870E Aorus Master- TUF 5090 OC - 64GB DDR5 - 1500W HXi - Titan 360 RX LCD - 9100 Pro x 2 - LG 45GX950A - HOTAS Warthog with Ava Base

I have my max FR set at 60 in the Nvidia control panel, with the FGR program which is 30 FPS native. I guess I just need to leave MSFS paused on the screen rather than minimise it, but it seems odd that it only happens whilst minimised and the program should not be using much, if any GPU at all. August 14, 20241 yr The easiest way to pause the sim and let your cpu and gpu stay cool is: hit ESC, go to LOAD/SAVE FLIGHT and open the window LOAD FROM or SAVE TO THIS PC. Let this window stay open and you can now minimze the sim. (Win+D).
