August 30, 20241 yr I use Firefox browser and have added the free "Custom Video Speed for Youtube" extension to Firefox. CVSY provides for 3 hotkeys slow, normal, fast. As long as you hold down the "slow" key the video keeps playing increasingly slower and slower for as long as you keep holding it down. Same thing for the "Fast" key. But you just tap the "Normal" key once and it instantly jumps to normal speeds. You can assign those 3 keys to any keyboard key. I chose Z, X, and C because they are in a row together. So before a youtube video starts, I have my left hand middle 3 fingers laid on the Z,X,and C. A 30 second commercial starts as I hold down the C key. 4 seconds later the video has reached its end, instead of 30 seconds. At which time I tap the X key by wiggling my middle finger, and instantly the real video begins to play at normal speed. It's fun to hear the high speed jabber of the sales person squeak, and I have no clue to what he is selling because his lips move so quickly. I think every browser probably has a similar addon extension. August 30, 20241 yr Author Of course it also works when a youtuber starts selling something in the middle of his video. My 3 finger salute zips past these unwanted details but jumps back to normal speed when he is showing something of more of interest to me. In other words it works on all ads, not just on Youtube generated adds. August 30, 20241 yr I switched over to the new duckduckgo browser (windows 11). It seems to have helped quite a bit, so far. Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-14700F 32.0 GB memory Windows 11 Home Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060

You just have to stop using it. You can plug a cheap laptop into your TV and watch YouTube via an ad disabled browser. You could also cast from your phone /tablet too at lower quality.
