Tobii stopped working

Featured Replies

After installing MSFS2024 Technical Alpha I have noticed that Tobii natively doesn't work in 2024. However, when I returned to 2020, Tobii stopped working as well. Very odd considering that it just worked on Friday and I didn't change anything. Now, I'm suspecting that Technical Alpha might mess something up.

Tobii still shows up in MSFS2020 under control setting. All sensitivity settings are intact. However it no longer wok with "track Ir" option on. I had to install forgotten Open Track app and use that instead.

Does anyone have similar experience before or after Technical Alpha?

I read on the official forums that some people were seeing 2020 hosed after installing 2024 on the same drive.

I installed it on different drive but there is definitely some coloration and possible conflict between 2020 and 2024

Cool! I'm curious about a Tobii's post with MSF2024. Unfortunately for @sd_flyer, my Tobii is OK with my Tech.Alpha MSFS2024 and MSFS2020. No interference that I can notice.

My only complain in MSFS2024 is that it's set to EYES TRACKERS ONLY and I didn't succeed changing the settings in MSFS2024 (to HEAD tracker only). But I was able to de-activate it via the tray icon app "Tobii Experience" and set to "Disable Tobii Experience". Could it be that it's disabled on your setup?

So I uninstalled "Technical Alpha" and now tobii doesn't work in MSFS2020 at all - even with OpenTrack. Wow! Pulling my hair now. LOL What could it be wrong? So far I reinstalled Tobii experience app, try to unplug and plug tobii to different port . I'm pretty sure fix could be very easy but I just can't figure it out so far. As far as OpenTrack by itself I can check all the motion so possibility of tobii intself broken ruled out.

If anyone else has an idea how to fix throw it here please!

Did you ever find a solution to this? I have noticed the same thing - after installing MSFS 2024, now MSFS 2020 no longer works natively with Tobii! I have to use OpenTrack for it to work, which is annoying.

It is driving me bonkers - it was working perfectly with 2020 before.

EDITED TO ADD:  For anyone else experiencing this, I did find a solution here: LINK

Apparently, the OpenTrack installation includes a dll related to TrackIR (NPClient64.dll), which MSFS 2020 reads and uses to install a duplicate TrackIR profile in addition to the Tobii one. This creates a conflict which prevents Tobii from working properly. Unless you are using TrackIR as well (I am not) you can disable that dll (I just pasted .off to the end of the file) and it fixes the issue.  The link indicates where to find that dll (it is in the opentrack installation folder under "modules").

I think you can still use Tobii with OpenTrack if you prefer, even with disabling that dll. I suppose you can uninstall OpenTrack too to get rid of it, but at the moment it is necessary  to use OpenTrack for Tobii to work with MSFS 2024.
