Control Settings - MSFS2024

Featured Replies

I am playing around with the Control settings "Device Lists" for my Mouse, Keyboard, Tobii, Alpha, Bravo and Saitek Rudder Pedals. Just trying to feel my way around the setup menus. It appeared very complicated and daunting at first and still is to a degree. But I think after navigating through the menus things are somewhat becoming clearer, with me anyway. It will probably take sometime to get my settings back to what I liked in MSFS2020. But, for anyone that may be better in the know than myself, what are the differences in the "Presets Config" (Bottom left in the Device List), namely, GENERAL CONTROLS; AIRPLANE CONTROLS; eg, SPECIFIC SAAB 340 CONTROLS (I'm thinking this one is for specific aircraft profiles)? Also I assume these would be Global Settings, unless specified for a certain aircraft.

I think General is just your keybinds apply to everything like the GUI etc.  (You know how you can press F to configure a plane or Esc to save and go back one screen etc?)

Airplane controls are if you bind a button to something you can set it up to default for all aircrfaft.

Specific is like if you wanted a helicopter collective but only for that helicopter you use that profile.

I am also noting for the Tobii that in MSFS2020 I was able to click on "Sensitivity" settings and could adjust the Eye/Head tracking to my liking. I do not see anywhere that this is possible in the MSFS2024 Menu setup. It's probably there in some form, but not readily obvious to the eye.

I just tried this myself and when I selected 'hardware settings' for Tobii, the sim crashed to desktop.

As with everything it takes a bit of time to get used to but all in all the control settings menu is a lot better than the one from 2020. It's great how you can have seperate profile for general use and aircraft use and you can even set controls for each and every plane if you want to! A feature that has been requested by many!

The only little problem I have is that the space in which you can see what controls are assigned there isn't enough room for combned assignements: you can't read what's in the box anymore.

What I think is a MAJOR improvement is how you can assign and delete assignements! To assign simply click the spot for it, use the control, done. No stupid validations anymore in a seperate pop up window. And deleting is even easier! You hover your mouse over an assignement and press backspace or delete: DONE! Soooooooo much easier than it was in 2020!

msfs is too big to manual. But there should be a "quick start" to explain basics. It would require hiring one guy to make and adjust such as guide. So if there were 582 Asobo employees before, now there would be 583.
