MSFS2024 Native ATC working with Navigraph and Airliners..

Featured Replies

While messing with 2024 and the beta simbrief dispatch, It occured to me you could make a plan in simbrief dispatch, import the route to the sim, then in the Asobo planner you can request the (imported!) Simbrief plan from the sim Avionics and then (still using the planner) file the plan to the ATC.....

Now the internal ATC will work with you as you fly.

Seems to work fine, except that choosing a gate seems to mess it all up, so you have to start from a runway....

Anybody else tried this, or is it a stoopid idea?

Is there a better/easier way?

Tried it and it works indeed. BTW You can also load the downloaded SB plan directly into the Asobo planner: it works either way. Until you run into navdata differences like happened to me just now. Seems you really need Navigraph navdata for SB plans to work...

But anyway, default ATC will work with what you import indeed. But it's still a 'stoopid' idea because defauls ATC sucks and is even worse than it was in 2020. 😉 I installed BATC again after giving default ATC two tries.

Eh. I had FSHUD, but considered it too incomplete and kind of kludgy, so I stopped using it. I would've been interested in trying it in MSFS2024, but not interested enough to pay the $17 upgrade price they're asking.

Hm, upgrade price... I am glad I decided to go for BATC then!

I only used it about a week, and it seemed to be kind of an FPS hog at the time, though that may have changed by now.

I think i'm at the point where the complexity of starting cold and dark etc, has morphed into the desire at least for now, to do things more simply and not drag multiple programs into the sim. Especially as in its early incarnation its already a bit crash-prone.

I'll wait a bit more for the navdata (default) update process to run and stabilize, and also for the already identified issues with the EFB to become ironed out...

Navigraph subscriptions are simply too expensive for my simming budget 😕

This is my tact as well I'm still hoping default ATC gets some overhaul and it's easy to imagine MS could indeed do similar AI voicings as do programs like BATC.  If there is no discussion on this going forward I will consider picking up BATC.  Hopefully someone will ask about this at the first post launch Q&A.

In the meantime I've found that you can actually choose a starting parking spot if you choose airport and spot in the dropdown before performing the other steps I mentioned in the OP.

It's a simple and more importantly free way to not be quite so alone up there.

Yep and already it does a decent job of keeping track of the other air traffic around you on your departures and approaches.  I think its basic logic could be hugely improved over what is now w/o millions of $$ of investment, and by adding in some 2-way options for short finals or things like that 🤞🤞🤞
