Several 2024 questions answered

Do I need Atmos?  Is the lighting better?  Are default colours better? Is the ground blurry?  Are the clouds better? Is it smooth?

Did I refund 2024 too early?

Are the mountains and snow better? You bet!

I don't know about Atmos. lighting, colours, clouds are better. Ground is not blurry. And my specs are much lower than yours. Go to a website with the time of day displayed and make sure your Windows time matches it exactly. Strange but true it matters for how fast scenery loads as you fly. My Mbps internet is 400.

If your time is off by even say 10 minutes, it can screw up a whole lot of loading times at various places in the sim.

The lighting is a significant step up over 2020; I could never go back to that yellow/green environment. The mountains are generally much better and so is the terrain, but of course some areas are better than others. Clouds also seem to be much better, having more of a sense of depth and heaviness to them. I did a great flight in northern Wisconsin today through snow clouds and it looked much better than 2020. It has been very smooth for me after the first two days.

It is still settling in and sometimes, but rarely, the ground textures take a minute to resolve, but this issue seems to be diminishing. There are of course many other small bugs and annoyances, but it is clearly the successor to 2020.

I think you missed the point of his post. 😉 His video is the answer to all his own questions and the answer is positive on all accounts!

Mine is only 24 Mbps and loads on the fly fine.

The point of the post is to show those people who haven't made the change from 2020, or refunded 2024, just how quickly 2024 has improved.

The increase in ground resolution has a secondary effect of increasing the realism of other things  Just look at the realism of the snow on the great looking mountains in Canada!
