I was lucky enough to have a 2 hour session once at 60 FPS without my GPU running into problems. Then I had to lower the FPS to prevent my GPU from overheating. Honestly, I can't tell the difference between 30 FPS and 60 FPS for MSFS 2024, but maybe need to play it side by side, one with 30 FPS on the left side, one with 60 FPS on the right side, to notice the difference. My 3080 has always run hot, and in 2020 I have always capped at 30fps. Looks smooth to me so I’m happy. Don’t want to see 60fps, it might look better to me somehow, and that wouldn’t be good.

I have my MSFS2020 capped at 30 FPS and it is absolutely smooth as silk even in high density scenery areas. Which means, literally, that to my eyes it is impossible to get it any smoother, even at 1000 FPS. If 60 or 120 FPS, or whatever, pleases you, then I am happy for you. So I guess we are both as happy as clams. All I ask is that you, or anybody else, please refrain from attempting to generalize your experience by implying that higher FPS automatically equates to a better visual experience. It does not. I now have it on my M.2 drive with 2020, there's still 1TB free on that but still I'd be happy to download an install of several hundred GB to get the dependency on the server down (if that's even feasible) Regards, Max (YSSY) i7-12700K | Corsair Vengeance LPX 64GB 3600MHz DDR4 | Gigabyte RTX4090 24Gb | Gigabyte Z690 AORUS ELITE DDR4 | Corsair HX1200 PSU
December 2, 20241 yr I have a theory/ suspicion if-you-will. And if I'm proven to be wrong, that's great. But follow me if you will, and test for yourselves, if the curiosity get the best of you. So, I know (me included) how annoying it has been with how the textures have been loading into the sim. To get even close to the 150 TLOD of MSFS2024, You have to crank it to past 300 for MSFS 2024 it seems. Of course this tanks performance like no one's business. Let's assume it is the MSFS servers just for a moment. That would mean that if we use a third party map provider (Map enhancement) then in theory this should not be an issue. After all the map data is no longer streaming in from the official servers, but the "other map provider". However, for me at least this does not seem to be the case. I strongly believe it is the client itself that decides the rate of the map tile streaming into the sim, as well at what resolution and clarity, depending where you've set your TLOD. This happens regardless of which maps I've used. My TLOD on 2020 is set at 150, and honestly it is near flawless with any map provider. Flying IFR with an airliner in MS2020 is pure eye candy-detailed and sharp. I cannot say the same for 2024-even at max TLOD, and if this is to be a thing, it is really immersion breaking- to me at least. Another thing to ponder. Would it even make sense if both sims were not streaming map data from the same official Bing servers? That would be an awful waste of resources and data, on MS's part I think. This reinforces the theory even further. I'm not sure about the rest of the title's assets, but maps must be common for both sims. You start a session in MSFS 2020. You execute a flight, and maps are just fine. You then shut down 2020, and start a session in 2024, and its low res terrain textures blending in and out before your eyes. That has to be the sim client, and not the map servers IMHO. Cheers. Edited December 2, 20241 yr by vyper883 NZXT H7 Flow PC Case. 6X Corsair LL140 RGB Fans. Seasonic GX-1000 Focus Gold Power supply.
