December 19, 20241 yr Can someone explain to me what the auto FPS is supposed to do and how it works? I wasn't able to see much out there other than people saying it's a "game changer" but i am having a hard time understanding what it does. Would it be accurate in saying that it automatically reduces your sim settings automatically on the fly to keep the desired FPS you picked? So for example if you are flying into NYC and you have it set to something like 60 FPS in the Fenix, does this app dial down your settings from Ultra to Low to attempt to hit 60 FPS? Wouldn't that make your sim look bad? Or am i missing the benefits / not understanding what this does? Thanks! December 19, 20241 yr Basically yes...it adjusts the TLOD (terrain level of detail), OLOD (object level of detail), and clouds to maintain your desired frame rate. On the ground, TLOD is low and OLOD is high. As you climb out, the TLOD increases and OLOD decreases. The opposite happens as you descend. When approaching an airport, it usually helps by eliminating the stutters (due to the airport objects being loaded). It is a game changer...give it a try. Outside of playing around with it, is there a target framerate most people are using with 3rd party planes like Fenix and 3rd party airports to ensure everything still looks good? 30? December 19, 20241 yr I would start with 30. That should give the program some headroom...your computer should be able to handle that well. PC: AMD 9850X3D, RAM 64GB, Geforce GTX 5090 (32GB), MSFS 2020, MSFS 2024, Pimax Super 50PPD, Quest 3
December 20, 20241 yr Absolute game changer for me also Great video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYFWWLlCJpA&t=1s
December 20, 20241 yr I use AutoFPS along with FRG in 2020. The two together have been a game changing experience for me. I think there is a new version of AutoFPS that works with both 2020 and 2024, though I suspect that the old version might as well. December 20, 20241 yr It's a really useful tool. It changes settings on the fly to keep stable framerate, and within certain limits, in some cases, makes graphics even better. On the ground it can give you higer OLOD, and lower TLOD, the opposite in the air. Flyblueskyes maybe explained better than me in his post before. I keep mine at 36fps, and disabled "decrease cloud quality", cause I prefer keeping them on high or ultra all the time. You can also tune different settings for low and slow vfr, or higher IFR flights. Simply try it, easy to install or remove, doesent harm! P.S. There are 2 versions, I'm using resetxpdr one, working both for 2020 and 2024.
