December 24, 20241 yr Hi, I usually fly within Europe, so I am wondering if there a document / website that demonstrates the differences on procedures and phraseology in North America (US and Canada). I used to fly sometimes in the US but thats more than 10 years ago, I think they have changes some stuff in phraselogy.
December 25, 20241 yr There's an online ATC service called Pilots Edge, it's a subscription service covering the western USA, but you can listen to audio samples for free, it's here: https://www.pilotedge.net/ Also any number of YouTube flying videos that will also give you a good idea. I was a member of Pilot Edge for a while, and found American ATC phraseology was quite a lot different from Europe, took a bit of getting used to.
December 25, 20241 yr Author That's a good hint. I already know PilotEdge I want to try it one day for sure. I think for learning the US ATC is pretty good, because you also have converage. Can you or someone else recommaned some freeware or payware airport in the coverage Area, close to LAX within 1h-1:15h flights?

The main differences are 1) Flight Levels in the US are at FL180, 2)There is no zero in runway names such as RWY6 as opposed to RWY06 in Europe, 3) When there is no ATC on line, all North American airports use CTAF when nearing the destination airport ( I use 20 miles) instead of 122.80.
