I am looking to improve the visuals of MSFS 2020. I have a 4K 55” OLED TV but for some reason the game looks bland and dull.  I understand games don’t look as good on TVs as they do on a good quality monitors. The smallest size monitor I am willing to get is 44”

Any suggestions on a high end monitor?

There is nothing better than a 4K TV, you still have to choose the right one.I use TV Samsung 4K NEO QLED QN90B 43" (990 euros two years ago)

-Exceptional image quality, even with sources that are not in 4K (Switch, TV channels, Twitch, etc.)
-Very good contrast with deep blacks and strong HDR brightness peaks
-Brightness that can withstand rooms bathed in sunlight
-Absolutely perfect for gaming, even when connecting a PC
-An ergonomic and premium design

CORSAIR 4000 AIRFLOW (WHITE) / RYZEN 5800X3D / ASUS TUF GAMING B550-PLUS / ARTIC LIQUID FREEZERII 240 / 64 GO DDR4 3200 KINGSTON FURY / MSI RTX4090 VENTUS 3X 24G OC / KINGSTON NV1 NVME 2 TO / BE QUIET PURE POWER 11FM  1000W 80PLUS GOLD / SAMSUNG NEO QLED 43" 4K.

Thank you, Filou. I wonder then….why does MSFS look so bad on my Samsung OLED Q60? It does not have HDR so that could be part of the problem. My TV is 4 years old and I think I paid about  usd 700. Your conclusion is then that a good 4K OLED TV can be as good as any monitor? I have a RTX 3080, which I think is a crappy card. If I do decide to keep this hobby, I may upgrade to the 5090. I currently running DLSS (quality) native resolution. It looks flurry and boring.

I think I am a bit picky when it comes to the resolution. MSFS currently looks awful with my current set up. Overall, my view is MSFS has its limitations as well.

Monitors like my BenQ PD3200U display a very high quality image. But it’s limited to either 30Hz or 60Hz. Also you’ll never get them larger than 32”.

If you want to stay at 55” then the first thing to do is ensure it’s setup correctly. This site will help. Run the tests and come back after you’ve made any adjustments.

You are welcom.

Can you show me your FS setting if you want.

All my photos are with Nvidia DLSS (Balance) setting and believe me everything is ok.

Graphics doesn't look as blurry in the sim, but in below pictures it does. It still looks dull and bland..

If you got some money LG C4 with HDR on and calibrated on Nvidia app and on Windows setup... as an expensive solution.

You may try to activate hdr, setup the color in the Nvidia app and activate then hdr in the game. It will be better...

How do I know I have a monitor problem?

Those test images I directed you to will tell you. If your display cannot show every graduation of white to black that is one clue.

It does show every graduation. Maybe the TV is a bit old with mere 60hz.

I wonder if upgrading the monitor can improve the quality of the image.

That looks fine to me. The highest quality displays tend to be monitors, not TVs. The former give you quality, the latter, immersion with their larger displays.

IPS displays are the highest quality but most expensive.
