Cessna 172 Sound

Featured Replies

Whilst I may have been spoiled by the Boris soundset in FS2020, which doesn't work in FS24, is it just me who thinks the FS24 C172 sounds more like a lawnmower than a throaty Lycoming?

I'm missing my C172 and Cirrus sounds as well.  I look in the Marketplace every day but those sounds are not available.

Go to Boris's Discord and let him know!

There's hope 😉 The C172 soundset for MSFS2024 could be available this week-end (25-26 Jan) certainly out of the MarketPlace for those on PC that acquired the addon directly.

The soundset is still showing for MSFS 2020 only at Orbx, does anybody know it it work with the C172 in MSFS 2024 as well?

Nope - it won't work with the 2024 C172.  Several of us tried it to confirm.

Thanks!

Just noticed Echo19 has a soundset which is compatible with 2024, may go with this one instead.

I owned the Boris C172 soundset in MSFS2020.   When I moved to 2024 and saw that the Boris sound set wasn't compatible yet, I bought the Echo19 C172 sound set.   It's ok, but not at the level of a Boris set.   There are some annoyances with the Echo19 C172 pack. Such as when you use the headset emulation, it removes all bass.   That's not what noise reduction or wearing a headset does, in my experience.   It's more likely to remove high frequency sounds and leave low frequency 'rumbly' sounds.

Also the engine sounds with the Echo 19 set sound like a severely broken, rattly engine that's about to die!  There are some severe metallic rattling and knocking sounds, that I wouldn't expect to hear in a C172SP's IO-360 engine.

With Boris's version set to come to 2024 soon, my personal advice would be to wait for that.
