Wonder if it's compatible with products like ASXP12 and xEnviro ?

Hi,

Looks nice, but too much color in my opinion. Colors should be a bit washed out at night.

In this video he's using SwannSim's lights, not the lights that come with ITC. I encourage everyone to use whatever lights they prefer.

To answer your question, yes, ITC works with xEnviro and ASPX12. However, xEnviro injects its own clouds and atmosphere, so some of those features from ITC are not compatible with xEnviro. ITC also has an Advanced Settings option, which lets users create their own compatibility with other mods/lua scripts.

Thank you @typicalskeleton !

But when you say it's compatible with xEnviro, yet "xEnviro injects its own clouds and atmosphere, so some of those features from ITC are not compatible with xEnviro" what exactly are the consequences? Artifacts? Crashes?

I know I could test it myself, but I am now up to testing the latest version of ASXP12, and only after that will reinstall xEnviro again...

But I will surely give your mod a try this weekend 👍

No artifacts or crashes that I know of. I have tested the mod with xEnviro myself.

ITC allows you to change the size, shape, scale, and color of X Plane's default clouds. Those functions don't work on xEnviro clouds. The same is true for some of the atmosphere settings.

Overall, there are no major consequences, apart from the fact that some of the "advertised" features of ITC may not work with xEnviro.

You are still able to change the intensity and color of night lighting, among other things.

In my testing, there's never been any stability issues. The only thing to consider is that some of the features of ITC may not fully work if you use xEnviro.

Give the mod a try, I hope you enjoy it. If not, that's totally fine too. 🙂

Well, gave it a try and although I didn't yet have the chance to try it at night, I did like it !!!

The presets and the 3 presets that can be directly loaded, are really nice. I still didn't decide which one I prefer.

One suggestion is to make the installer more evident when the package is downloaded.

I downloaded you package, assumed the folder was supposed to be dropped inside of the usual "plugins" folder, but then opened it and then found the "Readme.txt" and the automatic installer ".exe".

I opted for the automatic install, running the installer.

There is no specific indication on how to uninstall, although it's implicit when you write in the "Readme.txt" that running the XP12 installer / updater will give the option to reset the modified files to their originals, and that ends up being the same as "uninstalling" 🙂

I used just a few lighting mods with XP11 and XP12, but so far and from memory, this one looks like the most nice looking and easy to use for me.

Hi,

It looks like my night lighting without reshade, too much color at night, it should be washed out a bit. I'll do that for the next update, I also have updates for those using my reshade version of the lights.

Jcomm, I'll try to make the installer more obvious.

Uninstalling is as simple as deleting the ITC folder from your plugins directory, and copying the Lights Backup files back to their main folder. I'll add instructions for that. Thanks for the suggestions.

That last video looks superb ! Can anybody confirm it works in VR as well ?

Anyways, I'm downloading right now, so I'll do a test later today.

The last video is from yet another mod.

The one I mention on the OP does more enhancements though, not only night lights, and I just tried it with active sky xp12 and looks really cool!

Ah ok, thanks for clarifying. I have read the messages a bit too fast, it seems.. The video you posted didn't impress me much and I thought it was only for city lights. I clicked on the link and saw it was more than just that, so I guess I'll have more things to test than I initially expected 😄

Today it was a rather enthusiastic and rewarding day for me.

Since I am unable to test MSFS 2024 right now, I decided to dedicate some time to fetch the latest Xp12.1 patch, the latest Active Sky XP12, Map Enhancement, the ITC Lighting mod, and test Xp12.1 ATC again...

It ended up making my day / weekend 🙂

1) Xp12.1 ATC is now really acceptable for IFR flights of the kind I use to play in XP and MSFS. It is very plausible, nothing like when I first tested it some 2 yrs ago. A full IFR airline flight can be flown, controlled by default XP ATC, and the experience is good enough for me not even considering spending money right now in an ATC robot, although I have my eye on Say Intentions because it will serve both X-plane 12 and FS 2024.

2) Map enhancement, which I decided to give a go to, impressed me quite positively, to the point of having me buying a 1 yr subscription for the Pro version. I was in the fence between buying only a 1 month license, but ended up purchasing a 1 yr, and from the couple flights I just did around Porta Land, WOW!!!!

3) I rarely adhere to fancy enhancements like Reshade and the like... but I felt that that ITC Lighting Mod had something special to it, so I decided to give it a go, and honestly can't look back !

Along the journey my Nvidia App also suggested downloading the latest driver, and I went ahead and, without following the "sacramental" steps I always follow - uninstalling and cleaning any tracks using DDU - I made a clean install through the App, and, it worked great and I didn't notice any quirks so far.

So, My X-Plane 12 is running GREAT! and looking even better than just 3 days ago, while at sharp & stable 30 fps, and it has never looked so nice.

DrishalMAC2 Light mod with BLAH lua script.

So I gave this a try tonight.

I like the result a lot, but on my old hardware it's far from perfect. I like that the boom effect really makes the light sources shine, it makes the scenery very vibrant at night (I tested over Seattle because I currently have only the OrbX TrueEarth scenery installed.

What I didn't like however:

1- The houses seemed to be drawn with a light pen: all edges were luminous, including the walls and the roof.

2- The bloom is a bit powerful so even when the sun is high, it's a bit difficult to look in the direction of the sun (like, look south at lunch time, more or less), it gets washed out a bit too much. I should have activated the "sunglasses" mod, I guess. Maybe it's realistic after all, but anyways I liked the colors at night, dusk and down. Day colors are nice as well excepted for that problem I mentioned before.

3- Maybe this one is not linked to the mods: I tested the real weather, and it was raining around Renton Muni... And man, that rain effect is absolutely hideous in VR !! Not only is it way too slow, but it kind of follows the movement of the view. It's very disturbing, to the point that I'm avoiding rainy weather until further notice. Note that I'm not sure my XPlane12 is on the latest version, I may be missing an update.

That's it for now. I'll take a look at the very first video now, to check the differences again.

This DrishalMAC2 Light mod with BLAH lua works very well until I turn on MSAA.  When I do, I get a very ugly purple band at the right of the screen at night.
