FPS is Always Cut Half

Featured Replies

Since the day it started happening, my FPS has been consistently cut by 50-60% mid-flight. I have my FPS capped at 25 and use LSGG X2 to get a solid 50 FPS. However, no matter what aircraft I fly—whether it’s the Cabri, R66, Taog's Lama, H125, or others—the FPS always drops mid-flight and never returns to normal unless I restart the sim.

The timing is inconsistent; sometimes it happens 15 minutes after takeoff, other times it takes longer, but it always happens. This issue is frustrating, persistent, and severely overlooked.

I’ve scoured multiple forums (including AVSIM and Reddit), and many users seem to experience this, yet there’s still no fix. Any update that doesn't address this problem is not a meaningful update.

I have used iobit advanced system care which is free for years. It has a ram cleaner icon that you can put anywhere on the desktop. One click and it frees up RAM. This is good if you have a program that leaks memory. I don't know if it would help or not. I clicked on it just now and it reported 5.8GB Ram Released. Took about 2 seconds.

Your system specs imply you may be using a gaming laptop, in which case some of the GPU memory may be shared memory, the use of which could cause the performance drops you have been experiencing.

Have you tried running GPU-Z and monitoring GPU dedicated and share memory use to see if there is any correlation with the performance drops you are experiencing? If not, I suggest you give that a try. While it won't fix it, it may help pinpoint whether the issue is system hardware limitation related or not.

Also check your temps, you could be getting some throttling on that laptop due to high temperatures.

His CPU base speed is just 2.3 GHz, while the Turbo Boost one is a bit more than double. Sounds like TB was simply disabled because a power output limit was exceeded. I used to have this problem with my previous laptop and the one before.

The only solution I know of was to set manually the CPU clocks to something in between. With my old laptop (i5-8300H), I used Throttle Stop for that. I could reduce the TB frequency from 4 GHz to 3.4-3.7 GHz and fly reliably (although with CPU temperatures at 80-85°C in summer). Sadly, I understand this doesn't work anymore. I hope to be wrong.
